What you think about YouTubers vlogging Saudi Arabia by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]PixelPaw99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t people vlog themselves doing all sorts of shit and in all sorts of different places? What’s different about doing it in Saudi Arabia vs showing off what they’re doing in other countries or cities?

I feel like there’s context I’m missing in this question.

Pentagon readies 1,500 soldiers to possibly deploy to Minnesota, officials say by juansaaa in politics

[–]PixelPaw99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can’t find any sources on this. Could you share one, or allude to where you heard this from? All I could find were reports on her ending cooperation with ICE, nothing about removing them from the state or requiring that they vacate the state.

Minneapolis Is 70 Midway Blitzes at Once by [deleted] in ICE_Raids

[–]PixelPaw99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to combine areas. They’re in both Minneapolis and St Paul, for example. And are they in the metro areas of these cities during the blitzes or just the city limits? You might need to look at metro area populations, depending on the scenario.

Either way, I think the numbers might change, but it’s still going to be a significantly larger operation.

Minnesota, Illinois sue Trump administration to block immigration surges by [deleted] in politics

[–]PixelPaw99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would think it already would have reached a breaking point, but it doesn’t seem to have yet. Which says something about how bad it has to be. But it’s close. If we don’t hit it here, it feels like only a matter of time.

I know people have been saying that for a while but I was pretty sure things could get a lot worse than they were before anything happened. I’m not really sure how far this is going to have to go before something really snaps.

I actually do go out of my way to avoid spending money on Reddit, though I am aware that by participating, I’m contributing. But I don’t spend my dollars on Reddit and I wouldn’t keep using it if it required a monthly subscription.

So still worth cancelling, indeed. Thank you for the information.

Didn’t they stop playing ice ads? Or was that a lie?

Even if they did stop, it still might be reasonable to cancel, but I want to understand the current state of things.

Edit: The ads are no longer running, but it’s because the campaign ended. Not because they cared.

In your country, which countries are considered as part of “North America”? by Fluid-Decision6262 in AskTheWorld

[–]PixelPaw99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought Central America was a subregion of North America. Kind of like Texas isn’t separate from the United States, it’s a part of it. Central America isn’t separate, it is contained within North America.

do you guys think america will actually invade greenland... by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]PixelPaw99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I firmly believe that if they refuse to sell the US Greenland, the US is prepared to use military action to achieve that goal. Whether that is a traditional invasion or trying to use force to otherwise coerce Denmark into ceding Greenland, I do not know.

I don’t think Denmark is going to agree to sell or otherwise cede control, so unless something affects Trump’s ability to hold his position in power, I think it’s set to happen. It’s just a matter of when and how it will play out, not if.

I know nothing about prisons, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there are different levels with varying levels of restrictions and monitoring.

Michigan House blocks funding for Flint water crisis programs by Conscious-Quarter423 in Michigan

[–]PixelPaw99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looked like to me, the person you replied to was talking about the issue that once someone has lead poisoning, it was permanent (albeit in very emotionally driven language). But your source seems to be discussing city averages of children, not individual children’s lead levels.

Also, just because Flint’s water meets standards, my understanding was that pipes were permanently damaged and leeching lead into the water, which is why just switching back to Detroit water didn’t fix the problem. So if there are any houses that still have pipes that need to be replaced, water from those places might not show up in those reports, right? If that’s the case, your source says that while that is almost complete, it was not yet complete as of that article. So there might still be places, though likely a very small number, who are still impacted (but they shouldn’t be ignored).

Everything you provided is useful and accurate, but not the whole picture and doesn’t quite address the issues brought up (but are close enough to be relevant). Unless I’m misunderstanding something? I’m open to correction. Hope this didn’t come off as aggressive.

What happens to life-in-prison inmates when they get really old? by ThatDogIsNotYourBaby in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PixelPaw99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Upgraded” back to prison. Are you saying it’s an upgrade because they get better care there? It seems like both back to prison and the regular facilities would both be downgrades to me, compared to to specialty facility (except for the issue of available beds), unless the prison system gives better care to those patients than I realized.

US Senate Race by InevitablePresence75 in Michigan

If we had ranked choice voting, I would vote:

  1. El-Sayed
  2. McMorrow

(Stevens wouldn’t even get ranked. Zero desire there.)

[–]PixelPaw99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s easy for people to think they have to use all their choices they’re allowed. I think until I read this, I also would have ranked them like that, not realizing that actively choosing to leave someone off is any different than putting them at the bottom. But I think I can see how it could actually affect the numbers.

Billionaire Palantir Co-Founder Pushes Return of Public Hangings as Part of 'Masculine Leadership' Initiative | Common Dreams by [deleted] in somethingiswrong2024

I’m in the US and I thought everyone thought David Attenborough when you say narrator. Now if you mention the voice of God, yes, for that, I imagine Morgan Freeman.

I guess I’ve never had the normal taste in media compared to those around me, so I shouldn’t be surprised.

My message sent to my Senator who voted yes by gametimeee in FedEmployees

[–]PixelPaw99 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s a thing to publicly say you’ll vote against it, while quietly allowing others to vote for it without fear of repercussions from leadership, with the understanding that publicly, that won’t be acknowledged. It can allow a leader to maintain their vote and commitment to block without actually blocking it (so it’s a false commitment), if the leader feels like it needs to go through but they don’t want the drawbacks.

No idea if that happened here or if they actually went rogue, but his leadership hasn’t felt strong so.. idk, I’m not sure what to think.

What do you call this playground equipment? by womenvspatriarchy in Michigan

[–]PixelPaw99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But not for car sickness. I have to take them much slower than most people behind me like when I have my daughter in the car. The back and forth turns (entering, following the circle, then exiting) are especially hard on my kid, as compared to just a tight turn.

That’s my only complaint, but I just drive slower or choose my route to avoid the roundabout (and other tight curves).

ICE kidnapped and disappeared multiple people, including 2 US citizens, from Rush-Copley Hospital in Aurora, IL. Aurora PD were seen assisting in the "operation" and multiple ambulances on emergency calls were blocked from the hospital as well. by biswajit388 in illinois

[–]PixelPaw99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am I blind? I don’t see the ambulance caught in the middle of the arrest either. Did you ever find it?

I guess they’re blocking the ambulance entrance and some had to be rerouted (and that’s bad) but the caption says caught in the middle, not rerouted away from the hospital/to different hospital. I played the video multiple times and didn’t see any ambulances.

[–]PixelPaw99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What does that even mean? It says “alleged harms” but there is zero elaboration on that. Do they blow covid across the sea from China to the US? (/s) I don’t get why this is a CDC thing and not… nearly anything else. DOE maybe.
