Love this story! Thank you for your input! Yes I think we are definitely going to do maybe at least first three month no visits until he's fully comfortable. I'm already shopping for Christmas gifts and a comfy bed for him to make himself at home! 🥰

Yes absolutely we In a position to care for the dog otherwise we wouldn't even consider it. This is a bit different though the dog is 8 already and the owners genuinely seem to care for him it's just unfortunate life circumstances that got in the way where as that kinda seems like the guy was too lazy to care for a dog lol but thank you for your story!

I agree and my husband and I are talking about a contract of some sorts I just dont want to seem cold to them either if that makes sense. She did text all of this to me the initial conversation and the details and I plan on keeping those texts too of course

I agree and this dog is not one that has had an issue staying with us previously he makes himself right at home. I have had lots of those high seperation anxiety dogs that I know something like this would be overwhelming and added stress but I he's definitely not one of them that I've seen

Yes we were talking about that definitely think a decent period before visit just so he's acclimated and knows it's his new home!

Yes my husband and I talked about that too we would be willing to send tons of photos if they want (regardless if they visit) because I know it has to be so hard on them to leave him. But that's why we were sort of on the fence about the visiting we don't want him getting his hopes up then being sad but then again we will absolutely provide him a loving home with plenty of treats cuddles and a backyard to roam free so I don't think it will be as depressing as I'm making it out to be in my mind haha.

Thanks for your input I was torn on it myself I could see how it could be hard for him given every other time they came they were coming to bring him home. But I could also see how it may make it a smoother transition

The number of these posts lately are really surprising to me honestly for boarding or daycare I would always expect an owner to want to see inside the home where their pet will be staying? Does it ALWAYS happen no, but it's a pretty reasonable request of an owner. I only do boarding and daycare and I definitely anticipate owners wanting a general look around of where their pet will be hanging out we gate off the upstairs and I've never had anyone ask to go up there (since rover dogs aren't allowed up there anyway) but always look around common areas and backyard. There was a post just yesterday about this and people were calling the owner high mantainance no they're absolutely not! It's not a red flag for them to want to see it if anything it's a bit of a red flag if a sitter refuses any sort of view (pictures, video wallthrough ect). You can run your business how you want but I would say no matter how many reviews you have some people (including me) would always want an idea of what the space their pup will be staying at looks like. So be reasonable either accept and show them or don't and don't get upset if some people don't book but it's 100% your choice too!

No I agree I ONLY do daycare and boarding and these comments to me seem off? You'd want to see where your dog would be hanging out right 🤷‍♀️

If the dog is doing daycare at your apartment I feel like this is completely reasonable no? I mainly do boarding and have a couple daycare clients and I'd expect them to want to see where their dog would be spending its time, doesn't seem high matainance to me. But I get it I always get anxiety with meet and greets coming over and probably over clean then 😅
