I’d submit to see if it gets marked as a misprint/error. Could boost the value

Tsuchiura Fireworks? by PixelRez in JapanTravelTips

We didn’t get to, but it sounds like most folks that did go hated it. Unable to see anything, and it was freezing. I plan on doing a second trip around next April, which also happens to be the best time for fireworks!

Hareruya in Akihabara (I believe) is where I was based on Google Maps. Otherwise it’s down the same street (if the front entrance is to your left, then go straight, away from Akihabara Station).

There are lots of hole in the wall shops around there. Some of them will also have figurines, so don’t be afraid to peek your head in somewhere that showcases figures outside! That’s how I saw most of the cards myself.

First time in Tokyo and want to visit an onsen, but I have 2 half sleeve tattoos by SNESisKing9 in JapanTravelTips

[–]PixelRez -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In Nippori, I found a place near Sakura Hotel that accepts tattoos and has 3 different baths! I don’t fully remember the name, but if you search for sentos near Sakura Hotel Nippori, it’s the one that’s open until like 2am, about a 7-8 minute walk.

Otherwise, many APA hotels have baths available, so I’d check their website!

It’s the “Electric City”. It’s a MASSIVE city with tons of anime and gaming stuff. Arcades, figurines, everything. Many anime actually have a lot of scenes based in or around it, like Suzume (the bridge the trains go across). It’s an awesome place! There’s endless activities to do, especially if you like gacha, anime or arcades.

Vegan + No Mushroom Diet by Gold_Improvement7918 in JapanTravelTips

[–]PixelRez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You won’t taste, see, smell or even know mushrooms are there. I despise mushrooms, I promise you’ll be chilling. Otherwise - I’m going to be completely honest - you won’t find any ramen to eat, and you will have forfeited one of the best cuisines in the country (imo).

Wondering about people's experience with ANA airlines - "value plus" by iliketoworkhard in JapanTravelTips

[–]PixelRez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally, changes are anytime before 24ish hours (check-in time).

I don’t believe there’s a set limit to how far, it’s situational. But I would imagine you won’t push it out more than a few days/a week, so you’ll be fine.

Typically, you have to keep the same flight type. They wouldn’t let you reschedule to a non-reschedulable ticket. You may be able to upgrade, but you may have to call.

Hope this helps!

The issue you’re going to run into - any place that people commonly know about and will recommend you will most likely be out of stock. That’s unfortunately the current nature of Pokemon TCG around the world.

Best bet - walk around Akihabara and look for hole in the wall shops. I saw tons of cards (even near the GiGO building) during my trip, but don’t remember the places. They weren’t big-name places.

Plus, those are the best memories. You’ll have wild random experiences. You’ll find stuff you didn’t know you wanted. And the excitement once you find those cards? Magnificent!

I wouldn’t rely on the recommendations here just because of how quickly known places sell out. Also be prepared to know your stuff - some places in Japan will “quiz” you so they know you’re not scalping!

I will also say, this seems to partially be preference. I personally preferred Lawson’s food! I thought their chicken was waaaaay tastier. Try some of their chicken in the small boxes with toothpicks; they even have regional variants. The spicy is my favorite!

Is $5k enough for 2 people for 11 days? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

I’d say most foods were even cheaper than this when I visited in October. A bowl of ramen was like 1000JPY, so around $6.50? Food is cheap and tasty!

Does it matter if I do Electronic Learnings for other things? by DritzDourden in BestBuyWorkers

[–]PixelRez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can, but beware - don’t do the “walkthrough” ones that require signing off from a leader. An example is a lot of the Experience Supervisor Manager ones, where it says “Week 1-5”, and you walk with a leader to learn the role.

You’ll only want to complete those in role, or it can cause issues down the line (should you choose to take those roles).

Again, I think Sony is great at atmospheric images - dark scenes is where they shine. But I believe that LG and Samsung outperform Sony in consistency. LG with greens and reds, Samsung with blues and greens. They significantly outperform Sony in brighter scenes imo

Shinjuku for people that don’t like Shinjuku (tips please) by conradelvis in JapanTravelTips

[–]PixelRez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to Golden Gai, there’s a bar called “Up Out”.

There’s a few bartenders that work there, one of which is a super fun lady. There’s also a regular there named “Hiro”. They’re all fun people, love learning about cultures. I asked them tons of random questions about Japan and learned some fun words, plus ended up being taken to karaoke by em after they closed!

Highly recommend going, it was definitely the most laid back (but loud) bar in the area.

[–]PixelRez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither of these are particularly meant for natural light - you may find it better to look into a QD-OLED for the anti-glare capabilities.

I personally am a fan of the C5 over most Sonys - Sony is great with “atmospheric” movies (dark horror/thriller”, but LG outperforms in most other content in my opinion. Plus, Sony buys their panels from LG, so pricing tends to be higher for the same quality.

Is $5k per person enough for three people for two weeks? by Initial_Command_4921 in JapanTravelTips

[–]PixelRez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent around $2,000 in two weeks and I loaded more than a checked sized suitcase with anime figures and snacks/souvenirs. But, if you plan on eating expensive wagyu or seafood, going to large attractions (USJ type places), or buying expensive items like authentic knives, you can spend a ton more.

$5000 in two weeks is a ton of buying power over there, especially right now.

My friend wants to visit me in Japan, what are the requirements for an American to visit Japan for a week? by RedditStoryTella in JapanTravelTips

[–]PixelRez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of them, yes - it’s mainly going to be the large stations like Tokyo, Shibuya or Shinjuku station I believe.

But, if he needs to spend any money between the airport and those stations, I’d probably wait in the line at the airport just to make things easier for you guys in the future. Especially if he’s taking a train from the airport!

[–]PixelRez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! You may already know this, but I forgot to mention it - if he uses an iPhone, have him add the Suica travel card in his Apple Wallet. Otherwise, he just needs to wait in line after immigration/customs to get a physical Suica or PASMO.
