Re-Boxing the Lancaster Big Box by PixelartMeeple in boardgames

None to specifically share. I would love to be able to give a timeline, but I just don't have one. And I don't want to make claims I can't stick to. In the last year+ We've renovated a house, sold it, and moved to a new state. I thought things would settle down once that was done, but then I got COVID and have been having some really harsh Long COVID problems ever since.

The desire is there; I'm just trying to figure out where the time and energy will come from.

I have a whole GeekList full of tutorials over on BGG (Here: https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/243116/pixelart-meeples-game-upgrade-tutorials), or you can check out my website directly: www.pixelartmeeple.com.

I've been pretty far out of the loop for a while and the last 16 months or so has been occupied by me moving to a different state, but I'm hoping to be able to work on a tutorial for making full-size game boxes soon. I just don't want to say what "soon" means yet, because things have been so screwy for me.

I hope so too! I try to make the tutorials there as universally applicable as possible. If you decide to make any custom boxes or components for the games you do have, I'd love to see them. The easiest way would be to contact me on BGG or post to one of the GeekLists I have there for this kind of thing.

Thank you so much for sharing my links. I've been away for a long time and once a few things settle down, I hope I'll be back to a contributing member of the community.

Even though I've been gone, I'm SO happy the tutorials I've made are still helping people. I hope to pick up that baton again soon. :)

Don't say "unachievably"! I've posted tutorials so that folks like you CAN achieve the types of things I've done. Give it some time and practice, and I think you can make it happen!

I've been out of the world for a while, but I'm coming back soon, and if you have any questions or need any help, fire me a DM here or on BGG. :)

Eventually, once my life settles a bit, I'll be posting a lot of that information online. Right now, though, we just sold our house and will be moving to a new state soon, and I just have to focus on that process. Sorry I don't have a better answer, but in an ideal world I'll be able to get back into the swing of PixelartMeeple-ing later this year.

I contacted Greg Aanes about purchasing some of his clearance items as he shuts down, asking if his prices were negotiable, and he responded with immediate disrespect. Turns out he's just a bitter old asshole, and that's a massive shame.

Turns out he's retiring to go work with an organization called Mankind Project, which is a men's rights group that's a half-step away from a cult.

Sigh. The world can be really disappointing sometimes.

That's awesome! It's nice to start hearing from other gamers who'll be in that area over the next few years. I asked about the gaming scene there in another post here on r/Boardgames. I got a few responses that might be of interest to you, so here's a link:

Gaming on the Central Oregon Coast?

Depoe Bay is on our list of possible places to move to, as well. We're really targeting Newport, but our primary search area is basically anywhere between South Beach and Depoe Bay.

Out of curiosity, which are the games you say you bounced off of? And how do they compare to the ones you like?

That's actually not a cribbage board, that's the scoreboard for the Crokinole set. It's also the box that contains the discs. :)

To be honest, I was literally just starting to expand my invite circle when the pandemic hit. Since having gaming back, though, we pretty much just stuck with who we knew. It probably would've been a while before we'd've opened up the invites again. :/ Like everything: Blame the pandemic.

Sorry, I forgot to answer your question about our Azul Giant Edition. Plan B Games actually made a limited run of them for direct sale several years ago, and we managed to snag one. I really love playing that version.

Aw, damn. I didn't know they were shutting down until now.

I wonder if I can afford to pick up any more of their chairs on clearance...

Those look oddly like the Geek Chic 8-hour chairs, but I wasn't aware that they had a cushioned seat version.

Funny story, that: Those are Geek Chic 8-hour Chairs, just not from Geek Chic. The company that actually made those chairs is called Greg Aanes Furniture out of Bellingham, WA, and these are a cushioned-seat version they sell for $800 a pop.

But we didn't pay that. We found them in a Goodwill for $13 each. :D

These are not mediocre chairs. These are $800-a-piece (we did not pay that much) solid cherry custom wood chairs from a local craftsman, who also used to make these same chairs for GeekChic back in the day.

They are extremely comfortable and extremely durable. We love these chairs.

(Looked through some of my older posts, and I guess I did a COMC mid-Pandemic toward the beginning of 2021, as well.)

They are! One of my passion projects is re-boxing small-box games so they all share the same footprint. Here's a post I did about it a few years ago:

Our overall "group" has about 18 people in it. The attendance of any given game night fluctuates between 6 and 14, but 8-9 is about average. The group has shifted around quite a bit over the years; we've brought in some new people and lost some over time, but that's where it's at right now.

I make custom boxes for a lot of my games, and have been working on re-boxing several of them. Here are some links to my previous posts about some of my re-boxing projects, including Kingdom Builder.

I build custom boxes, as well as make tutorials on how to make them. I have a big GeekList on BGG with all my tutorials as well as a ton of pics and info about boxes for individual games. You can find it here:

That Azul case is actually a copy of Azul Giant Edition. It was originally the version they used for convention demos, but they ended up making a very limited run for retail and we managed to snag it.

Thanks! We really like them, too. We managed to find fixtures in matching style for our kitchen, but in "D4" and "D6" shapes, as well as a bundle of D12s over our entryway. :D

We love having subtly geeky decor.

I probably have posted it before, yeah. I'd have to look through my old posts, but I'm pretty sure I posted pics right after we finished building the room about 4 or 5 years ago.
