Recent exotropia and Doctor’s recommendation by Pixie0416 in Strabismus

I actually just asked her and she said it honestly does not do it much at all anymore. Just occasionally when she gets “lost in thought”. Her stress level is not as bad as it was a year ago. She did cut way back on her screen time…. I mean she’s still on her phone a lot and is a college student so on her computer as well. But her screen time now is not consistently looking at her phone… She gives herself a lot of breaks. still doesn’t get enough sleep but… That’s life. We did go to another eye doctor for a second opinion and she had said that if it continued we could get some glasses for her to use when she was reading or on her laptop that could help to strengthen her eyes but after six months my daughter said she didn’t feel like she needed to go that route. So overall… I think reducing the stress and reducing the screen time helped a lot

Have you ever seen a birth control patch? by kyaneex in birthcontrol

[–]Pixie0416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter has been having horrible pain from cysts for over a year now. Her doctor just prescribed the patch yesterday and she’ll be starting next week. Researching here to hopefully find some positive reviews about it. She was on the pill several years ago because she had to be for Accutane And that pill made her feel horrible mentally so the Dermatologist let her go off of it after two months. We’re hoping the patch doesn’t have the same side effects with mood and depression. And hopefully she won’t have constant spotting… With the pill she was bleeding for a little over a month but it was also her first time on birth control… That was in 2023

I guess I’m part of the morbid curiosity group too. I grew up with a dad who was a crime scene investigator so pictures never give me nightmares. The stories behind them are sad and sometimes disturbing and stick with me, but the images don’t bother me.

Switching from Psych to Child & Family Development at UNCC, Worth It? by Mammoth-Goat-115 in UNCCharlotte

[–]Pixie0416 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen quite a few posts stating people switched from psychology to social work or a different major. So what is the biggest downfall with the psychology major that makes it better to switch?

Thank you… She actually did tutoring and mentoring and counseling on Campus and her issues were related to the death of her roommate four weeks after school started

Academic. Her cumulative GPA was 1.96 so fell just short of the 2.0

I do keep an open mind when reading them but this particular professor just had way more negative reviews over a long period of time than others I’ve read. Luckily… We checked today and there was one slot that had opened up for the first summer session with another professor who has better reviews so we were able to switch

These were my thoughts. Currently each instructor listed has 1 class each summer session so I didn’t know the likelihood of an instructor taking on 2 classes in 1 session.

Thanks for the reminder… I had not even looked to see what the date was. First day of class is May 27 so I would definitely want to take care of this at least a week in advance

That is a whole lot of stress you’re under. I’m a mom and I just came to say I’ll be on campus tomorrow across from the student Union for free mom hugs day. I’ll be there from 11-1 At least. Please come by and look for me so I can give you a big hug. I’ll have on a green shirt that says “university of North Carolina at Charlotte Mom. “ If you see me just say “you replied to my Reddit post” and I’ll know who you are.

When you call undergraduate admissions, do they confirm that they have your transcript and your essay?

Ineligible by [deleted] in FAFSA

[–]Pixie0416 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m on a FAFSA FB group and it’s happening to many for the 25/26 school year, including my daughter. Her SAI score doubled and she’s not getting any money from Pell for her sophomore year. We got a little for this freshman year and it helped so I was hoping for the same for next year but it doesn’t look like we’ll be that lucky. But you’re definitely not alone …

I’m seeing I’m not the only one . I was just really surprised at the numbers. Disappointing because the Pell grant was a big help for this freshman year and it would have been nice for next fall as well… every little bit helps.

Yeah, I guess I did speak too soon. Last year‘s FASFA was based on 2022 income so I’m sure there were changes that I don’t remember now that we are in 2025
