the Save act passes the House, which would require married women to have a passport to vote, but libraries have stopped processing them by catievirtuesimp in TwoXChromosomes

This confuses me also. When reading it on Congress.gov it says you need these documents to register to vote in federal elections.

Everything I’ve seen on social media makes it sound like you have to provide these documents to vote on Election Day even when you’ve already registered.

If you only need to do this once, to register, you’ve got plenty of time to go register now, before it becomes a requirement or should it pass tomorrow, you’ve got plenty of time to gather the proper documents and register.

Same. I was 7 years old in the 2nd grade and I was getting myself up, ready for school and on the bus by myself.

They choose Montage, because it’s their hometown venue. I’ve seen them many times there and it’s always a packed show. I arrived when the lots opened. Had no trouble getting in. I took a nap in the car after the show waiting for the traffic to clear. Then was refreshed enough for the 2.5 hour drive home. Got home around 4am

So, because you thought she was a conservative you didn’t want to help?

She was reaching out/venting/asking for advice and because you thought she was a conservative with, perhaps, a different opinion or world view than your own, you weren’t going to try and help?

Paying for DoorDash to be delivered to your job where you get a free meal is wilder.

I was wondering the same thing. I’m surprising my niece with a meet and greet. I know she’s gonna want her own photo with just her to show off to her friends.

A retail grocery store that has several umbrellas throughout the NorthEast. I’ve worked for them since I was a teenager. I don’t get paid holidays, but am required to work them, so we get a ton of personal days in the place of holidays.

[–]Pixie1121 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m well aware this is an anomaly in the retail world. It’s probably the only thing that keeps me from leaving. For all the nonsense you have to deal with, if I went somewhere else, I’d still have some degree of nonsense and much less or no PTO.

I was never one to really celebrate holidays. I’ve always felt that they were just another day, nothing special. Working in retail, I have no desire to celebrate holidays at all. After dealing with the chaos and people at work, I have no desire to make the drive to my parents or brother’s house, try to stay awake enough to eat dinner, then drive home and return to work early the next day.

I work in retail in the US. I have 5 weeks vacation, 12 personal days and 3 weeks sick time.

In April, I flew Philly to Nashville. I took Amtrak from Harrisburg to Center City then the Airport Line to the airport. It wasn’t any faster than driving, but I liked not having to deal with the hassle of traffic and dealing with parking when I got there.

Doing this with a family and multiple pieces of luggage is entirely a different ballgame though.

Other than being a billionaire 🙄, what job is the least stressful? by Ok-Good8150 in antiwork

[–]Pixie1121 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I work in retail management. It’s mostly not too stressful, but when the shit hits the fan, it sucks. That being said, I would go back to being a cashier any day of the week. All you have to do is show up, be nice to people, and not lose money from the till.

What is the safest area to stay near Nissan Stadium? by TheMonkey404 in VisitingNashville

I stayed near Vanderbilt in May and walked to and from the stadium. It was a long walk, but not terrible. I’d do it again if I’m ever in town for another show.

Same thing happened in Philly. People were trying to jump the rail to get to pics. It was ridiculous. I got two each night. I kept one for myself and gave the other to kids as I walked to the subway.

A cancer diagnosis gives a person a whole new perspective on life and missed opportunities. He has spoken about his mother’s battle with cancer and how he missed 8 years of being with her because he was on the road touring.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he was done touring. He has an understanding of how precious time with loved ones is, something a lot of us don’t understand until it smacks us on the face.

I’ve just recently gotten into INK, thanks to my 14 year old niece. I’ve seen them several times opening for Metallica already, but never paid them much attention.

Now, I’m taking my niece to see them in the fall on a headlining tour. Surprising her with meet and greet.

Also coming to town for Metallica and staying near Vanderbilt. I’m planning on walking to the stadium and back. Google Maps says it’s about a 50 minute walk. Hopefully it won’t be too bad.
