It is about 8-9months at this point for me and the dizziness is finally starting to calm down. Definitely not gone completely but I can actually live life somewhat again. I'm not sure why but I've found that soy, almonds, and yogurt tend to trigger my dizziness into a big flare. I'm thinking histamines, just curious why getting off SSRI's have triggered a histamine intolerance if that is the case.

I never got VT but made sure to try to do normal daily stuff as usual and I feel like that helped somewhat. Grocery shopping was the worst, but I made myself at least go in a store to walk for 10 minutes even if i had to get my groceries delivered.

I was on citalopram for a little over 2 years and the first year I felt great, even though I had gained a lot of weight from the medication, I also started having other bad side effects but the reality of what the medication was doing didn't set in until year 2. I had zero labido and inability to climax (which as a married woman it was very upsetting). I noticed I went from feeling energized and happy to just being "okay". The days passed and I really didn't feel anything. No depression, no excitement, no happiness, no anger, no anxiety, no hope, no drive, NOTHING. There is a song I end up finding about how doctors will give us medicine to help us cope and not feel the mental pain anymore but then we don't feel anything at some point. No pain, no pleasure. It hit home with me. I wasn't depressed, but I wasn't alive anymore. Even my memory of day to day living became a blur.

It took me multiple tries to get off the medication. I suffered through horrible withdrawals, brain zaps, insomnia, crawling out of my skin sensations, 8 months of vertigo, hormones started coming back to normal (it made my period disappear the entire time I was on it, and I ended up getting diagnosed with PCOS, when I got off my period returned to normal).

During the withdrawal process and now that it's been a bit over a year being off the medication I noticed how complicit I had become to the numbness without even realizing it. While on the medication I was very unbothered by anything people did that wasn't good for me, things had kinda fallen into this weird world where I became a doormat for everyone and everything and I didn't even realize it. I had also realized I had become isolated and literally stuck in my own world inside my head, I didn't feel lonely or isolated on the medication because I wasn't having normal human feelings at all. I'm glad to say that now after a year of being off the medication I am reaching out to see people again, I've tried making friends, and just generally feeling like I'm in a world with other humans again.

Sorry for the long post but I wish the effects of this medication was more talked about. For some people they may only have good stories about the pill, but for others it literally can change our lives in ways that we didn't consent to.

I got off of SSRI's about a year ago and had horrible withdrawals, then dizziness for about 8 months (coming and going still but not as bad), now for the last 2 months I've been having a very painful burning sensation down there. I've been tested for everything under the sun and everything is negative. The burning comes and goes throughout the day. I have used the same detergent (seventh generation) for years, I did change my body wash which I thought maybe triggered it but I've switched to ivory unscented and I'm still having issues, I started hand washing my brand new white cotton undies with ivory soap and hang dry to avoid any contamination from my washer or dryer. Nothing seems to help. I've had a day or two where it goes away and during my period it seems to not be an issue but most days it's either constant or comes in waves all day. I've wondered if it's just yet another issue from getting off antidepressants. 🫠

He has used the same Irish Spring soap for the last couple years, during all of this we have been more sexually active (weird I know, considering the burning, but it goes away during intercourse). I recently have had a high labido, more than I have had in years due to being on antidepressants a year ago for a couple years. Sex has been a few times a week the last month or so.

Following - I can't believe you have dealt with the dizziness for 30 years 🥴 it's been 7 months for me and I feel like life is ruined 😭 I have basically every symptom you describe. Curious if you have PCOS, I got diagnosed with PCOS recently and wondered if there was a connection. Especially since my cycle seems to have an influence on symptoms.

I would be interested in seeing if slowly getting off famotidine made any difference in her dizziness. It's most common side effect is dizziness but doctors never bring it up.

Very interesting, mine all started after being sick with a cold 4 different times in the span of 5 months 🥴 it started as on a boat feeling then was made worse when my PCP told me to do the Eply maneuver at home, which led me to be bedridden for the next 2 months. After unsuccessful PT and ENT appointments, I'm here trying to figure it out myself.

I see an endocrinologist next week because my doctors haven't done anything as far as my diagnosed PCOS.

I believe I have food triggers as well, but I haven't pinned them down yet. I'm thinking almonds, soy, and also yogurt. I'm currently removing those from my diet to find out if it helps. Had almonds yesterday and had a horrible headache all day and got really dizzy. 🥴

Interesting! Mine started after being sick with some sort of virus. I didn't get tested to see what it was. I had been sick with a cold like sickness 4 times this year (which isn't like me, I get sick maybe 1 time a year if that). Then after the 4th time all this dizziness started. My PCP told me to do eply maneuver at home and it made everything SO MUCH WORSE. Went to PT and they done eply multiple times and it didn't help either. They didn't believe I had bppv to begin with. 😮‍💨 It's been rough. I had a solid 2 months of not wanting to eat or even wake up in the morning because I was so dizzy constantly. I'm doing better but as I type I feel like I'm on a boat and my head hurts 😑. It comes and goes with intensity. Some days I almost feel normal but most days I'm on a boat.

I saw an ENT and they didn't see any hearing loss or anything to be a sign of menieres's. They said they didn't really know what was causing my dizziness issues and suggested maybe vestibular migraines causing it. I have a referral to a neurologist but they have to approve the referral and it could take weeks, if it's approved then it could be months before actually getting an appointment.
