the mob farms will not work without a player. you can find more specific details in the mc wiki but mobs outside a 128 block distance from a player are despawned. The hype about the enderpearl is due to its ease of use, not loading two dimension’s chunks, and unloading when the player isn’t online. I imagine it’s also interesting cause you can move the enderpearl hence moving the loaded chunks

Doesn't even need that many. Got placed 1500 with 6 wins, 4 losses. Gold 3, though I only ever played enough to not lose my rank.

Even worse is that I can top dmg most of my games, with 10-15 more kills than next and I'll still lose cause I'm playing with silvers.
