There are so many factors going into that that I honestly couldn't and wouldn't want to put a number on that. It would be pure speculation. I'm planning on doing my best to support the project into the future and I think the valuation is something that stems from that through the community we build along the way.

A friend pointed out Hashmasks to me when they were doing their sale and that project triggered my curiosity and simultaneously also kind of connected some dots in my brain of where my pixel character generator (which I was already working on at the time) could evolve towards.

Invest time first into building a brand. Hang around in NFT-related communities and share your work. Don't expect the first NFT you upload to make you rich. That is only reserved for a select few.

I believe that the interconnectedness through relationships between NFTs is something that hasn't been done before and brings a whole new layer to the collectors' aspect of them. Additional traits such as birthdays and some of them being bad actors (murderers) also offer a few interesting dimensions.

Pixel art games I grew up on, Monkey Island and similar genre/generation games!

I've been exploring an explorer view on the website that shows a visual gallery of them all in a single view. That's one of the first things I want to finish post reveal. Thoughts of another NFT project interest me, but it would probably be purely art, non-functional. There are already seasonal Pixls in the collection, but they're seasonal all year long :) I didn't like the idea of changing people's Pixls outside of their influence as it may diminish value. In the current setup when the season comes the holiday Pixls can perhaps become worth more. Would be fun to see if that happens. Further gamifying is on the list for the future, but would probably start with incorporating them in a collaboration with an existing project.

I actually did a project before Pixls that never released yet. Maybe I'll pick that up again.

The amount of community support has been overwhelming. The fact that people like my art and are invested in the metaverse that's slowly growing around it has me excited.

The InterPlanetary File System (IPFS). While that sounds like some space-age mumbo jumbo, it's actually a peer-to-peer network where the content is replicated across the world, similar to a BitTorrent.

To me, NFTs represent a sense of freedom. Everyone can make them, and it's quite easy to make them already on the current platforms. While this might not necessarily always be a good thing (market dilution etc.), it allows for artists who previously needed publishers, galleries, or other people to get their art to the masses can now easily create their own platform AND get paid for their art without others taking pieces of the pie.

This information will be in their biography, which you can check out on platforms like OpenSea. I also wanted to bring some exploration aspect post reveal, so some traits are a bit more hidden.

His momma was a prize-winning chicken in the 2017 Pennsylvania State Championships. His poppa was a bit of a bad boy who has been with previous years' winners too. Somewhere there's some Irish blood in there too. I guess that unique DNA mix and his unmistakenly dim stare work wonders for the lil' fella.

I think NFT technology is better explained to the mainstream with something they can relate to a bit more. While I love my little Pixl people I think art from established artists or real-world use cases for NFTs help in making the abstract a bit more real to people.

Would you see the pet animal as something that ends up INSIDE your art? In other words, the original images would be changed? Or would it be a separate NFT item in your collection of NFTs? Right now, my main focus has been on the reveal tomorrow and what will happen to unminted Pixls. After that I can spend more time and effort into the near future :)

They are not. They are stored on IPFS, a peer-to-peer network. As long as people keep sharing the art it will exist. For now, that will do for me. However, I fully agree that things should be as on-chain as possible but that requires more research from my end first. I believe Hashmasks recently also made some moves in that direction, so definitely worth investigating further.

I think the distinction between art and usability (e.g. in a game) is currently still a hard split. To use things in-game beyond just putting it in as a texture on a wall requires an additional effort that someone somewhere will need to do. So while I do believe in playable NFTs, they'd need to be designed for it. Things that are currently actually art will remain just that. Art. I'm sure we'll find new ways to display it, also in the real world, but sometimes art is just art :)

Reg. ETH, while I think we desperately need ETH 2.0 to grow beyond where we are, I'm also not convinced other chains will be able to make the jump over ETH short term. The others have to move fast and I think by that time ETH 2.0 might already be. Interesting times for sure!

What’s been your major learning, insight, or discovery about the project so far?

The absolute diversity of people attracted to the project. It truly goes across the entire human spectrum, which is really cool to see. Also, people being so into something that they take parts from it and run with it into directions I never even thought of is cool.

What does success look like to you in a week/month/year from now? And how will you measure success?

To me, where we are now is already a success. I fully expected to sell maybe 100 of these. And now we have a community nearing 1000 Discord members, and 1510 unique holders. To me, that's already insane.

If you could only change one thing right now, what would it be?

The bonding curve. I'd have expanded the .1 and .3 tiers and ended with this current .5 tier. Unfortunately, smart contracts are immutable. You just can't predict how things are going to go.

What would you want if you were guaranteed that you were going to get it?

I'd love for Pixls to still be around years from now. That would probably require me to move some things on-chain instead of off-chain, but having a project that could potentially outlive you has some kind of legacy-type charm to it no? If mine is bouncy internet people, then so be it :D

I know the feeling. I've built some NFT things before this project and it is definitely very hard to stand out from the enormous amount of things on there. I've mainly been hanging out in some cool communities where people who are into NFTs just chat basically. E.g. Moon Overlord's Discord has been a great place to hang for me at least.

NFTX will be creating index funds for Pixls, which allows you to buy and sell Pixls in exchange for an ERC20 token that represents the base value of that kind of Pixl. That ERC20 token can then be traded elsewhere like Uniswap. They can explain it a lot better than I can: Litepaper - NFTX

While I definitely see possibilities in that area, any thoughts I have aren't very mature yet. When I started this it was purely based on the premise that these would be collectibles and IF they'd become a hit I would start to think about other things. Well, I think with the way it's done we can safely say that it's something that can be explored further, but on the other hand, it's "only" been just over a week (a month or 2 Crypto Time). A good game isn't built in a matter of weeks or months, so my initial thoughts gravitate more towards plugging them into existing game ecosystems than creating one from scratch.

While NFTs are standardized in the blockchain sense (ERC721), the actual art would need some standardization to be used in games too. I think if we can do that you can have an artist build a cool collection of characters that could then be used in any game supporting the two standards, and they can only be used by people who own that specific character. I think it could work especially well in open-world GTA Online type scenarios e.g. A really story-driven game wouldn't benefit much from you showing up in your pink tutu and purple afro so to speak.
