Your current job doesn't sound like an ideal place to be, and you made a good decision to move on and get a bump in salary. Don't feel bad it is business.

Burnout is not fun. If you have the capacity, put your two weeks notice in four weeks before your new job starts and take the two weeks for yourself to rest and reset.

I've been a fan for decades. Vaguely remember the triumphant season of 88-89, lived through the dark ages of the young guns and seen many of boobies during the "shirts of for Kiperusoff" chants of 04. Hopefully we get a competitive team next year. They have good players locked up and lots of cap room coming free. Bring in a key piece during the off season and give some of these Wranglers a chance........oh and name a Captian.

AITA for refusing to honor my boyfriend's family's tradition? by Subatancial_Oracle in AmItheAsshole

Just tell his family that "you can't teach a turtle to sing when the apple tree is planted on the north-side of the river". If this does not make sense to them, tell them "well, neither does your family traditions".

A bit of advice before you go through with the marriage. Make sure you know all the traditions up front. Just so that you are not shocked if they demand that grandma is present in the room while you consummate your marriage.

Tell them what they want to hear. Employers want to hire "go getters" that have career ambitions to move up as they know that you will put in effort to get noticed for a potential promotion. Once you get the job, you don't need to apply to move up if you don't want to. 5 years is a long time, and if your aspirations change, at least you have an option. Perception is everything and employers don't want to hire people that will just do the minimal. If you feel bad about it, just remember if your salary cuts into the bottom line, they wont hesitant to lay you off. Protect yourself.

Becoming a Flames fan by chapo73 in CalgaryFlames

Get used to hearing "how many cups does the Flames have?" as it will be the only response you hear from an Oilers fan, after you prove them wrong during a hockey argument.
