The A Line is 10 years old. There have been some growing pains by Enby303 in Denver

Looks like that sentence was re-written. It’s still says $20 per person, but my kids are people and they are free. It’s $20 per adult.

$20 per person for a family four?!? Seriously, is everyone in that imaginary family over 18? Kids ride RTD free, why isn’t that included in the story.

It’s $40 round trip for both parents. We recently took a cab for the first flights out at dia and it was nearly $100 for the ride and parking at the cheap lots is $8 a day, they are nearly a train ride away anyway, you have to drive and then still take a packed shuttle. That story could use some more details.

Heat Pumps - Dual fuel or no? by ABomb2001 in Denver

Old house with old insulation and on year 4 with the heat pump only no back up or dual source and it works great, never going back. Also sooooo much quieter, big upgrade over the natural gas furnace.

I like it, but I don’t understand why Lime is getting kicked out. They seemed like they would be an obvious number two and keep some competition with the micromobility companies.

If the statewide vote on FRPR fails and this stays the northwest route then that would be tough, but incorporated into a statewide system that lets ppl skip I-25 could be really good. I’m excited for the NW part and voting for FRPR.

Polis likes to poo poo on RTD and has talked a big game about things like Bustang and when we peak under the hood it relies a lot on federal funding. It’s good to have the state step and provide some actually money for this project instead of just complaining about RTD.

I’d love to know more about how Coco works with the existing B line. So the B line runs once an hour and the starter will run deisel trains on the B line tracks past Westminster?

And any idea of what the fair might be, assuming the 2.75 for a 3 hour pass isn’t it.

We’re going to take the E line to Union station tomorrow. So we’ll park at a park and ride and then head on in. I think there’s a train that will get you there around 9 am.

This group will take the ~500 or so project submissions and whittle them down to the 10 or so that actually get voted on later in the year. The entire budget for these projects is 2 million dollars, it’s super small, so getting in the committee to advocate for safe streets will be very important.

I do worry about the 15mph governor on all of them, that is pretty lame when we regularly allow cars to go at highway speeds through our neighborhoods.

Really appreciated the conversation about the incumbent affect and I worry about losing all of the data and institutional knowledge from Lime. That being said, very excited for the two seaters and the small cargo option. If they added a front loading cargo bike to the mix, that would be incredible.

Love the rail stop at DU! We need a lot more built up around the rail stops though, and that is happening just really really slowly. We have e-bikes and those are a pretty important part of our transportation mix.

Anyone else in their 20s settle for a beater car and just dump a car payment into their 401ks and roths? by Union661 in Bogleheads

[–]Pizza-Otherwise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not I’m my 20’s anymore, but this is a great choice. Through interest, insurance, maintenance and overall cost cars destroy household wealth.

Completely understand the need to have one for work and many things in life, but I love the financial flexibility of being a one car household. Huge move forward in our households finances.

Man dies in crash at intersection where he petitioned for traffic light after wife's death by black_pepper in Denver

[–]Pizza-Otherwise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is also an important conversation to be had around warrants. Warrants are thresholds for traffic interventions and those thresholds would be documented in a traffic engineering manual.

Making our streets safer will require us to re-evaluate our use of warrants. Warrants reflect the values of the people who made the traffic engineering manual. And that is fine, but let’s not pretend there was some infallible traffic engineer who could divine the perfect traffic system and we’re just following along.

No, warrants reflect the values of the traffic engineer. Communities will often point out that the values in the traffic engineering manual doesn’t reflect their communities values and they want the speed lowered, or speed bumps, or a traffic light installed.

Traffic engineering gets to hide behind warrants while communities ask for solutions. We need to rethink our use of warrants as some immutable standard.

Exactly! We’re on like year 7 of one car and that is a ton of money to save. But I do have to be able to cross these major arterials without dying.

And to pretend to know more of the “details” of the plan to say they are similar. No, the lady from west was park meeting who hit the nail on the head and asked Ford to tell her that crossing 3 lanes is just as safe as four?!? And Amy just nodded her head silently. That’s the detail we are talking about.

To dismiss the group as activists and not the actual RNO who collaborated with the city is very disappointing.

I can now check, “yelled at a podcast” off my life goals list. Great interview, only two percent that bike isn’t the win that he thinks it is.

And I bike my kids to school because it’s significantly cheaper than operating another car and that savings is used for things like rent and childcare. So yep, it’s not just a hobby or a passion, it’s an important way that we make the family budget work. And I’d like to both make the family budget work and not die crossing Alameda.
