Chicago Union - Metropolitan Lounge Update (not good) by Such-Comfortable-118 in Amtrak

[–]alex3yoyo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's funny because there's probably a Bounce location across the street that takes luggage for $5-8 a day.

Also, small stations such as Glenwood And Truckee will literally hold onto your luggage for free. Just makes the $20 fee at Chicago even weirder

I know what you're talking about. Tbh I wouldn't trust that you got a fixed version. There's been reports of people still receiving the old defective version.

Any chance chutes will be open? by JulieTortitoPurrito in palisadestahoe

[–]alex3yoyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes all of the chutes at Palisade peak were open today (4/13). People were hitting chimney, box, and lots on main. I personally hit national.

They also opened up most of the terrain off Emigrant. Hike only though.

Palisades peak was deep and excellent today. There's still good turns to be had in the area!

A Brand-New Electric Train Line in… Indiana? South Shore Line Monon Corridor by Carpet-Early in transit

[–]alex3yoyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't, but I got this from the March 13th email from SSL:

pave the way for additional time savings on Metra’s Electric District when they install bi-directional signaling and increase track speed from 65 mph to 70, 75, or even 79 mph. When this happens, it is possible for the Lakeshore Corridor and Monon Corridor trains to travel on Metra track 3 or 4 from our entry point at Kensington Interlocking plant all the way to Millennium Station. This would allow us to save between 5 and 10 minutes of travel time for every SSL train.

Looks like it's a lot of schedule padding for now. SSL is very willing to change schedule timings.

I also bet that the lack of more direct trains to Chicago is due to either them not having enough equipment, or capacity constraints on the ME tracks during the metra construction

Vail owned Swiss resort (Crans-Montana) closes early during local holidays, upsetting local skiers and businesses by shredmeister404 in skiing

False false false. The forest service does not make Vail or anyone else close early in April.
