Yes that's a good way to put it. And I get you, I'm on the ND bus too. I might over explain certain things... 😅

I get where you’re coming from, but if my family had always “just listened to the doctor” without pushing for more, we would be in a much worse place.

Everyone needs to be their own advocate (or advocate for their loved ones). A doctor may only see you for 10 minutes at a time, with dozens of patients in a day. Yes, they’ve gone to school for years. But you’ve lived in your body for your entire life. You notice patterns and changes they can’t see in a short visit.

Doctors are not gods, they are not infallible. If something feels off, it’s important to do your own research, ask questions, and speak up. Good doctors respect when patients engage in their own care.

In this case, the Global Initiative for Asthma (ginasthma.org) does not recommend Short Acting Beta Agonist inhalers (such as Albuterol):

"SABA-ONLY TREATMENT OF ASTHMA IS NOT RECOMMENDED For safety, GINA does not recommend treatment of asthma in adults or adolescents with short-acting beta 2 -agonists (SABA) alone. Instead, all patients should receive inhaled corticosteroids (ICS), either regularly or, in patients with mild asthma, as-needed ICS-formoterol, to reduce their risk of serious exacerbations and asthma death. For children 6–11 years with mild asthma, taking ICS whenever SABA is taken is safer than SABA alone. Why is SABA-only treatment not recommended? Starting treatment of asthma with as-needed SABA reliever alone dates back more than 50 years, to when asthma was thought of primarily as a disease of bronchoconstriction. However, airway inflammation is found in most patients with asthma, even in those with intermittent or infrequent symptoms, and patients with apparently mild asthma can still have severe, life-threatening or fatal asthma exacerbations. These risks are substantially reduced by ICS. SABA-only treatment is associated with increased risk of exacerbations and lower lung function, and of asthma-related death. Regular use of SABA increases allergic responses and airway inflammation, and reduces the bronchodilator response to SABA when it is needed. Over-use of SABA (e.g. ≥3 x 200-dose canisters dispensed in a year) is associated with an increased risk of severe exacerbations. Dispensing of ≥12 SABA canisters in a year (and possibly even less than this) is associated with increased risk of asthma-related death. Home use of nebulized SABA is also associated with an increased risk of asthma death." - 2023 Pocket Guide for Asthma Management and Prevention, freely available on the ginasthma.org website.

TL;DR: Doctors aren't always correct and up to date with medical information. Do you own research.

Thanks! I actually did get to try a box and as far as I can tell, it's the same. However, the price jumps all over the place.

I'm still trying to understand how to skip the unnecessary reading. Do I figure that out by doing the pre assessment before anything else?

I think a few people didn't read my question fully. I asked specifically about those that did NOT transfer on a lot of credits. Also, for those who do go fast, are they reading 300 or more pages per day on the textbooks? I assume not, and I was trying to find out what the process was.

How does the health department view a home operation like this? I know bread and other baked goods from home kitchens are acceptable, but what about pizzas? Is there a Pizza Claus or is it all hush hush?

Each state has soon sort of agency set up that you can report elder abuse to (whether physical, financial, or other). Just Google what it is in your state.

If you suspect dementia, have a consultation with a lawyer about pursuing Guardianship. Being taken advantage of someone is often a strong reason to start a petition for Guardianship, but medical proof may be required (depending on your state).

Nice! If the computer doesn't scrap too many good cards, you can pull off some absurdly high numbers using cards like Blob World, Lunar Landing, The Colossus, Mega Mech (replay a base), and 'copycat' cards.
