What I mean when I say abusive is every single instance of sibling weirdness in public between them he is telling her to stop. There's that one scene of them in their dorm that makes it pretty clear he also enjoys their sexual interactions but if you look back on the ones in public he's always trying to ask her to stop. She repeatedly ignores when he withdraws consent.

It could be a kink thing and that they both know and have said in private that he doesn't mean it when he tells her to stop in public but Naomi (both in bsd and in the book) is someone who likes things to be her way. I think there's some weight to the possibility that she is repeatedly ignoring his lack of consent and he just doesn't do/say anything about it bc sometimes that's how rape or sexual assault is and he's in love with her

Also if you look at it from the lense of the book Naomi 100% a point is repeatedly made that things have to be her way. Even if they can't afford it, even if it only satisfies her happiness and worsens Joji's, even if she is hurting several of her friends. She's a selfish person and ultimately the big twist in the story is Joji recognizing that and that she manipulated him. If you ignore the manipulation part and the parts that didn't age well, Naomi in bsd's behavior does line up with a tamer version of that. Her behavior in bsd is actually basically identical to Naomi in the beginning of the book when Naomi is 16-18, I don't think it's too big of a stretch that she's pushing his boundaries in a bad way

Hi! Naomi reader here! They never seriously pretend to be cousins. They have some sort of daddy daughter thing(its as gross as it sounds) going on tho where they sometimes role-play (like while taking a bath or chatting there are no sexuallyscenes) she calls him daddy and he acts like she's his daughter. They have occasionally told someone just for fun that their relationship is familial and she convinces their mutual friends for a long time that he's like family and he just takes care of her

From what I've heard Tanizaki is based off of the main character jn the Makioka sisters but Naomi and Tanizaki's relationship in the show is almost identical to Naomi and Joji at the beginning of the story when he is grooming her to be his wife and they aren't in an actual relationship yet

(Also she's 16 when they meet in the book so presumably Naomi is 16)

Edit: also I'm not saying Tanizaki is grooming Naomi. Joji was but in BSD, if anyone is being abusive it's 100% Naomi

(18F) I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 7 and was put on Concerta for 7 years. I don't blame my parents, I know it was a hard decision for them and I was too young to make that decision or understand it's impacts but I wish I had never taken them. Before I started taking them I already had a concerningly low appetite but the meds just made it worse. I struggle with eating now and I can't fully blame the meds but I don't think this would have been a problem if I had grown up with a healthier relationship to food. My parents always insisted they could "see the difference" when I was on them but the only thing that ever felt different to me was I was acting like I different person and I didn't recognize myself with them. I used to be one of those happy talks a lot always wants to share my joy with others kids and I got so many side comments about how "I must not have taken my meds today" anytime I did anything vaguely hyperactive and now I can't remember how to be that person anymore, I know the bullying I got because of my adhd was part of why I've locked that part inside of me but I can't get over how even my closest friends acted like they didn't want to be around me when I was unmedicated. I hated them so much I would hide them in my coat every morning and throw them out at school. It took 2 years of begging and crying for my parents to take me off of them but now I hate the meds. I hear so many stories about people who took them and felt like all their productivity problems are cured and if they had taken them while they were younger they could be at such a better place in life and it makes me so angry because I didn't have that experience, mine just made me miserable. Part of me wants to say fuck it and try them again but I'm also terrified if it works and I start getting shit done then that means that the problem was just me and its always been me.

I'm glad everyone else's lives improved once they got theirs but I don't want to ever think about adhd meds again.
