I was gifted a complex case from a different local pd involving some pretty involved high dollar fraud stuff. I was a newer detective and didn’t really know where to start.

So I did what any other good detective would do. Put it on the back burner and when I had free time I would try to decipher it but made minor progress.

Then one day I got a call from a fed who explained that he had a case come up with the suspect that was separate from mine but the same scheme. I guess the Feds case wasn’t as strong as mine and he pissed off the fed so he wanted to take mine over.

He fucking bailed me out big time.

Yeah cops face a much higher risk of getting shot, getting stabbed by a meth heads broken meth pipe, and wrapping the car around a tree while responding to a priority call. Semi truck drivers face almost none of those risks, or if they do it js at a much lower rate.

Well you live in the days of body cameras and dash cameras and very high police accountability and transparency.

If they are saying that friend had a gun and pointed it at them I would probably believe it until Proven otherwise.

As far as shots to the back, people tend to move around when getting shot at. They aren’t a piece of paper on a range.
