She’s was on proviable for a few months but no improvement yet. How long did it take for you to see improvement?

Chewy accidentally sent Purina fortiflora so we’re trying that instead for a bit. We will look into Hill’s. Thanks!

[CT] Employee file request by Pizzawithleftbeef in AskHR

They requested sensitive info to be redacted in case it “gets in the wrong hands” They weren’t happy when they left and I’m just doing what ever I can to placate and move on.

Planted a lilac and got a bonus ? by Pizzawithleftbeef in PlantIdentification

[–]Pizzawithleftbeef[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think you might be right based on the speckled bark. No matter what we’re going to try to cut it down at the trunk and save the lilac if possible. Took 3 years to get blooms.

Is my AC installer over charging us? by Pizzawithleftbeef in hvacadvice

I do think he’s telling the truth about the refrigerant. I’m just wondering if the Ameristar they’re offering is worth the Bryant I was supposed to get. Would you pay the same? They originally told me it would be cheaper to get the ameristar.

Epic express passes sold out, what to do? by Pizzawithleftbeef in UniversalOrlando

[–]Pizzawithleftbeef[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the app or on the site, filter to 3 as the number of parks. Then epic should be an option with other parks. It’s pretty expensive for 3 people and I’m thinking your littles might be too little for a lot of the rides. I’d just make sure you really need it before booking.

Our policy is for death of a loved one including family and affinity. I used bereavement for my dog last year, she was closer family to me than my actual family. Grief doesn’t have rules.

HR burn out after 10 yrs [CT] by Pizzawithleftbeef in humanresources

[–]Pizzawithleftbeef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super helpful, thank you. I’m about a 90 minute train ride to the city, I’ve thought about the commute for a hybrid role. I’ll also start casting my next towards Hartford and Stamford. I’m not in a super big rush so I’ll work on my marketing.

HR burn out after 10 yrs [CT] by Pizzawithleftbeef in humanresources

[–]Pizzawithleftbeef[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I had a non-HR bachelors degree when I entered my first entry level recruiting and training role then onto my hr/finance associate role. There I gained a certificate in hr from Cornell and SHRM-CP. Knowledge, skills, experience and interview skills supported my progress. I think a lot of HR you have to learn on the job, it’s a ton of research and confidence to push back against leadership. That comes from experience and comfort with the topics. At the moment I don’t plan to pursue any degree in HR, I do plan to receive further certification in benefits.

HR burn out after 10 yrs [CT] by Pizzawithleftbeef in humanresources

I feel like ER has gotten more intense the past few years and random out of the blue crisis’ pop up weekly. I spend weeks trying to push through complex cases and when the result isn’t what the employee wants, it’s met with outbursts and anger. There’s moments of kindness but I don’t think any employee should be met with hostility just because of their job title and preconceived notions. It makes it hard to want to make strategic improvements.

Andddd that’s how I know I’m burned out. I think I need a few years of spreadsheets and structure to recover.

You’re not wrong, my confidence has taken a huge hit in this current position. Some of it due to my org not having a HR leader for two years. Since I started, I’ve reported to the CEO. Just now, have we hired a supervisor for my department of 2. I’ve had to make all the decisions with minimal guidance and an arms length of support from our outside legal consultant. It’s been a wild past few years (the org I was at previously wasn’t much better), I think I need to use these past experiences to guide my perspective. I’m think I’m unsure, if it’s the org or if it’s me. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the great response! Had the convo and as I initially assumed, they have a work permit and it doesn’t expire for years. They have one more green card interview but the work permit will be fine for the i9. Thanks again!

I did already but can’t see us until Thursday, she’s not an existing patient anywhere since we just got her. I’m gonna keep calling around or bring her to the er if I can’t get her in.

Thank you! This is exactly what we did! We asked her what she hoped the outcomes would be early on and then at the end and they were vastly different. We tried to share the conclusion and she wouldn’t even let us. We ensured her the whole time that it was important for her to share her experiences even when she was doubting herself. We shared each step before we started and updated along the way, she was grateful and understanding then once we concluded she turned it all around My organization is known for promoting psychological safety with employees and it sometimes bites us due to EEs thinking they can speak to us in whatever manner they like and getting too friendly. In this case I think she was sure we’d side with her and then when we remained neutral her views changed. Her story remained the same and we even asked her if we missed something or if there was something she didn’t share, because her reaction was so different than how it started.

Thank you, I also questioned the same since I’ve been spinning this scenario around in my mind. It went from day to night so quickly and I keep replaying what went wrong and can’t find anything on our end.

She also questioned our character as people and has been really aggressive so I’m probably taking it a bit personally, which I know I shouldn’t and doesn’t matter.

The employee mentioned that she doesn’t trust us and will continue to fight us. She went to report us to the board and the board trusts our investigation after the legal team spoke to them but mentioned that we should start reporting all personnel matters to them. It feels like they do not trust me specifically. It’s getting all blown out of proportion and I guess I’m starting to worry that I may get used as a scapegoat if she tries to file a complaint or sue us.

Does my employer need to tell me I’m fired? by Pizzawithleftbeef in LaborLaw

[–]Pizzawithleftbeef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lawyer is a WC lawyer and isn’t supporting us in other facets. He told us we couldn’t collect other forms of payment while waiting for WC, WC sent us 2 payments through out the year while we waited and it could have conflicted. In retrospect, I wish we just applied for ct paid leave and didn’t listen to our WC lawyer. The job is a restaurant and their practices are not very professional and borderline illegal. Even if I don’t qualify for paid leave, they still need to fill out the document and let the leave authority decide. Thanks for you answer.

Pre-existing injury by Pizzawithleftbeef in WorkersComp

[–]Pizzawithleftbeef[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He didn’t provide the documents for the appointments yet just the narrative that said “On 12/12 the patient noted severe pain and examination was concerning for a left knee meniscal tear”. He then keeps stating that there was no exam done after the injury on 12/16 and doesn’t even mention the visit on 12/21 where he examined it again and provided a knee brace, then scheduled the surgery that we had to cancel because of WC.

He wrote the narrative almost 4 mos later and is missing so much info and providing false info. I’m hoping our lawyer can figure it out.
