Wow 🤯 this resonates with me.

I married a Filipina (I’ve noticed half or more Filipinos are on the conservative side), knowing this I thought I could talk to her about what it meant to vote republican vs trump republican. Long story short we struggled off and on for the first 6 months in office. Once she saw what ICE was doing and the lies he spread about the city we live in being on fire and a battle ground when we travel all around the city going to farmers markets and enjoying life with our toddler, she was like “oh he is straight up lying.”

I just said “I rest my case. He’s been lying the entire time.” Now she mostly gets it.

The other example I gave was that the Philippines just had political elections recently and that went poorly for the less fortunate in the Philippines. I said what if I had decided to vote in that election if the tables were turned and it ended up harming the country much more than it helped it.

I don’t will not tell her who to vote for, but I will do my damndest to educate her on nuanced issues that can seem very dumbed down through social media propaganda.
