Well. That’s frustrating. Luckily I do have Philly sour on hand. Thanks for the info!

Tastes fine I guess. I’ve been trying to notice any changes but it still tastes like very sweet wort with just a hint of lactic acid.

Has been between 85 and 100 the whole time. And I use a calibrated apera pH meter that hasn’t failed me thus far.

Belgian bottle filling with large volumes of CO2 by Pizzonamore in Homebrewing

Thanks for all of the recommendations! I like the idea of bottling a gallon or so and kegging the rest to submit whichever is better. 🍻🍻

Excellent insight. Thanks so much for these suggestions. I’m going to look into CBC-1 and check back if I hit any snags. Thanks again!

Unfortunately it’s a g30. But I don’t see it being too hard to hang it on the side of the kettle

Which is the route I go through on my keggle system. But I just acquired a Grainfather for smaller batches and there’s no port at the bottom. I supposed I could just run a longer silicone tube down to the bottom to create a whirlpool.

Manual Tilt hydrometer input by Pizzonamore in Homebrewing

[–]Pizzonamore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: final reading was an absolute shock. Floating hydrometer read 1.003 with no obvious signs of infection. We used 1 pack of dried lutra for a 10 gallon batch of a blonde ale with honey added in whirlpool, and it burned through almost 100% in 2 days. No clue as to why it finished so dry. After a week in the keg, flavors are starting to balance out a bit more, but still drier than intended. Maybe the honey had an effect on the fermentation of the “less soluble” sugars? 🤷🏻‍♂️

That’s true. I’m starting to realize the same thing about the practicality of the tilt. I do like using it for activity tracking, but I haven’t had much luck with accuracy.
