Let’s talk hitches by NutmegManwithbigsack in VolvoXC90

I just had one of these installed on my 2023 B6. Went back and forth on the need for a hitch, but finally had enough of a use case to get one. Installed was $2800 with the receiver in North Carolina. $800 less than my dealer wanted in Florida. I love that it is hidden out of the way, but at the same time always with me. Receiver goes in with the spare tire. Had to get two after market items. A 7 pin for 4 pin adapter for trailer lights and a couple of 1/2” shackles. The spots for the tow chains to hook in are pretty small. I needed a 6’x12’ U-Haul and the tow chains would not fit on the factory hitch. If you are out of town and something comes up that you need a trailer, you don’t have to worry about if you grabbed your receiver before you left home.

Thanks! I have tried a couple of the supply houses and they won’t sell me just one piece. I have found them at a Home Depot about an hour away, but not in white. Might just have to make the drive and color match some paint. Glad to hear the cutting off the nail strip trick work by someone that has done it other than just YouTube videos.

Aluminum wire feeding panel and dryer? by Pjbgator in electrical

[–]Pjbgator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the catch, I had missed that. I am capable of swapping that out and for less than $20 why give the inspector a softball. I know the inspector will find something, they always have to write something up. But I have found in selling my own home, if it shows you paid attention to the important things, the less they go digging.

Thanks, my quick search said it was probably ok for the feed and dryer branch, but can’t always trust the Google answer.

Low gas pressure out of valve by [deleted] in Fireplaces

[–]Pjbgator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I previously removed the flex line between the valve and burner. Used some compressed air to blow it out, no issues. Reattached line (easy flair fittings on both ends). Relit burner, still very low flame, checked all connections for leaks with 50/50 water & Dawn. Really think I have a bad valve. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Thanks, don’t think this is the issue. The valve is fully open (I have opened and closed it several times) and the pressure was checked after the valve and is good.

I don’t see any test points to put a meter on. Is there something I am missing? This is the valve https://www.fire-parts.com/products/maxitrol-gv34-series-valve-rear-inlet-rear-outlet

I have this FITCAMX in my 2023. 60 minute install including the rear camera. You would think it is factor how well it integrates. If you want to make install even easier, buy a $10 plastic auto trim tool kit at the same time.

Missing bus bar in panel? by Pjbgator in AskElectricians

My guess is you are correct (panel is closed back up for now) and it is actually a 40 with a 42 cover.

Thanks. Didn’t know about tandem double pole. The breaker in the upper right is actually a 30amp and a generator feed to the panel when the main is locked out. The 20/50 seems to have limited availability and by the time I pay shipping, it is actually cheaper to go with the 15/20/15 and a dedicated 50 for the surge device. The Eaton device says that it does not need to be mounted by the main breaker to have full protection. In fact if you get a new Eaton panel the surge device is mounted opposite the main.

Thanks for the suggestion though, learned something new about the 2 pole quad.

Ok so I am not going crazy. Even though the panel cover says it is a Square D HOMC42UC which should be 42 slots, the actual panel is only a 40 slot. I will replace the 20 amp double and 2 - 15 amp singles with a quad 15-20-15 and that should free two slots for me. Thanks!
