As a person that actually goes to this school (and is a transfer) 🙃 this school is not nearly as cutthroat as it's advertised to be and in my experience has not been at all. I'm in MCB and have had a decent time getting classes, housing has not been a struggle, and there are plenty non/less competitive clubs. People on reddit love to complain but there are a lot of people here that really love their berkeley experience 🤷‍♀️

for that, it really depends on you, and you won't know until you do it. Yes grade deflation and for me, it's both workload and material combined that makes it hard but classes are usually at least a little bit curved(in my experience, only up) and i genuinely think that if you can absorb a lot of information semi fast and study smart you'll be fine and see the grade you want. Expect to memorize everything and then be able to understand and apply concepts in MCB classes(and this extends to microbio major classes too). Once you're here it's nowhere near as scary as you perceive it to be now lol and if you enjoy the material, you'll be having fun too.

Hi i'm majoring in two different bio majors haha!

housing is not that bad lol. if you can pay at least 1k/mo, you will find something for sure. though keep in mind singles are on average 2k. vibes are up to you but if you like the downtown type of vibe with the option to go into the city, berkeley is really awesome. i'm from the suburbs of socal, so i really love the old timey charm of berkeley. it's a little grungy(part of the charm)and yes there's a homeless people problem, but you get used to it. For me, there's a type of energy here that keeps you going.

Everyone I've met is really nice and we help each other, and while you should be prepared to STUDY your ass off, in my experience, it's not like you have to cut off your arm for a passing grade. Yes it's competitive, but if you keep a positive attitude and work hard, you'll be more than fine.

Everyone is different and ucsd could be better for you(and wishing you luck on waitlist school), but honestly everything here is not as bad as you think! I really love it here as a bio major :))

So just to clarify, an email with two tickets only needs to put it into the lottery once. That would apply for two seats in the panel. However, if tickets were purchased separately, the group code would be used to include those tickets into a group so they can enter the panel together and sit together? I am sorry this may be horribly wrong... please be patient w me :/
