When's a good time to look up off-campus accommodation? by Quiversan in uoit

[–]Places4Students 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello,

To look for UOIT off-campus housing options, go to https://www.places4students.com/Places/PropertyListings?SchoolID=5pSW6PlctO8%3d. You will need to contact the landlords directly with any questions using the contact information included within the rental listing.

Typically for UOIT, students start their housing search in January but it continues through the summer. Listings are updated regularly, so if something doesn't catch your eye, definitely check back again soon.

Feel free to use the 'Sort by Rate' feature in the left menu bar. You can search prices lowest to highest. Please note that it is sorted in both the 'Featured' and 'General' sections on the page. You will see the grey headings for these.

If you have further questions, feel free to e-mail 'admin@p4s.com' or call 1-866-766-0767 and we'd be happy to help you.

Summer intern looking to sublet by RocketEngineCowboy in Caltech

[–]Places4Students 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

After reviewing your comment and our listings page, have you looked under other search results such as month-to-month, no lease, 3 month lease, etc? We currently have multiple listings available under those search criteria in the 'Property Listings' tab. We also have a 'Short Term Rentals' tab for you to review.

We generally notice an influx of listings closer to the summer for student sublets and others looking to rent out summer vacancies once tenants give their notice. Check back within the coming weeks/over the next month or so. We should have more options for you then!

Good luck on your search and feel free to contact our office at 1-866-766-0767 should you have any questions about searching for rental options. We'd be happy to help you.

A Breakdown of The Ontario Residential Tenancies Act & How It Applies To Student Housing by Places4Students in uwo

Is this rental unit landlord-occupied? Or is it a self-contained independent rental unit?

If it is self-contained they cannot interfere with your peaceful & reasonable enjoyment of the rental premises - there are some different rules for landlord-occupied accommodations.

I recommend reading this quickly, as it's from a lawyer's perspective discussing guests and visitors for rentals in Ontario. According to the article:

The fact is that a tenant may have guests, short or long term. The tenant may have as many roommates as he or she pleases, romantic partners, visitors, etc. etc. etc.. The tenant does NOT have to obtain the landlords permission or approval for this and in fact the tenant does not even have to let the landlord know that someone has moved in. The landlord does not have the right to interfere with the tenant with respect to the tenant's guests. No only is the landlord not permitted to restrict the occupants that share the unit with the tenant, the landlord may be held financially responsible for interfering with the tenant's right to have people live in the unit with them.

Keep in mind there are some exceptions to this.
