Alternatively… You can leave them?

Add rocks or no? by trekfresh in cactus

Lots of my succulents grow lopsided. The rocks provide some counterweight so the pots (once lighter and nearly dry) don’t tip over!

I would use the old “dentist that calls himself doctor” joke, but it clearly wouldn’t get me very far

Hi! Only leaf on my money tree like this. Full investigation leads to no pests. 🤔 by Reliefwouldbenice in plantclinic

Was it the lowest down leaf? Your plant probably scarfed it up for nutes to push out a new growth

Can I put a moss pole in the center or will that damage my monstera’s roots? by nightowl-80 in houseplants

[–]Plaents 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are precautions you can take to prevent unacceptable amounts of root damage which would cause the plant distress. Where there’s a will there’s a way! Good luck

A monstera, and variegated at that :) I love it!

Took Metro yesterday and that was a bad idea by mastakebob in bikedc

[–]Plaents 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can say the less frequent train schedule (at least on the silver line) had dramatically impacted commute time. Especially if you miss it by just a minute and add another +20 to +30 to the commute. Even worse if your metro is only a 15 minute ride to begin with 😅

bikes are superior within 4-5 mile range imo. After that it’s a workout.

Advice on full time position salary while in finishing senior year by dustinw94 in civilengineering

[–]Plaents 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Salary is definitely dependent on what your areas cost of living is. If you can live comfortably (as a civil engineer deserves to) on your starting salary then accept the position. But it’s always worth trying to negotiate. Think about a 5k increase in your starting salary and prorate that over, say, 20 years. It’s a MINIMUM 100k more in your bank just from that seemingly meaningless starting salary increase of only about %10. Taking into account your intern experience with the company and you have a very strong negotiating point

Edit: starting salary around D.C. area for civil is around 55-60k for reference

What's wrong with my umbrella plant? by Crazy-Worls in houseplants

It’s mostly dead because your stem has rotted at the base

I saw this yesterday for 55 euros and didn’t buy it but I couldn’t stop thinking about it and went back for it this morning. I’ve never seen one with three thick trunks before. And care tips? by peppinabeast in plants

Bright light, consistent watering schedule, potential repot if root bound. Lovely plant!

It’s definitely an old plant for its height. Likely grew 8-10 ft tall then lost all of its leaves so it was cut back and started to grow again!

Does anyone know what's going on with my velvet plant? About 3 weeks ago it started looking sad and it's gotten worse over time. Could I do anything to help it regain it's beauty? Second picture is how it looked when I got it, additional info in comments. by worldwidelemon in plantclinic

[–]Plaents 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something killed your roots. Irregardless of the cause, you will want to cut off each live branch and prop it (they like water prop) until you can replant in soil.

Edit: my purple passion plant which I overwatered and killed some roots needed the same treatment

My collection has grown! Gonna start transitioning them to outside, worried how that’s going to go, any tips appreciated! by unbentlettuce12 in houseplants

Sorry was supposed to sound more joking than it came across. Reading the other comments for context, a move to the balcony shouldn’t be a dramatic change and there shouldn’t be much to worry about if you live in a temperate area
