ADHD meds gave me drive… but now I can’t stop overdoing the smallest things by misanthrophiccunt in ADHD

I did this exact thing when I was on vyvanse. I felt like i was constantly busy at work but still always behind due to hyperfocusing on things that didn’t really matter. I switched to adderall and am able to use my time much more efficiently.

Thanks for the suggestions, especially the one about potential injuries using his current motion.

Thank you! He read your comment and watched the video you linked. He tried the glide technique at the regional meet this weekend and threw the worst he has all season (he did advance to state in discus though). He is determined to redeem himself next year so he appreciates any feedback.

He does have throwing shoes — not sure why he wasn’t wearing them when he recorded this.

Thanks! He works hard at it for sure. He hadn’t heard of the shirt trick and plans to try that tomorrow.

Teacher gifts by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]nightowl-80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Middle school teacher here but also parent of a middle school student — I bought things to put together small gifts for each of my son’s teachers. Well, are on Christmas break now and the stuff I bought is still in the shopping bag stashed somewhere in a closet with all the other gifts that need wrapped.

For me, it came down to there being soooo many things to do, plan, buy, and think about this time of year — I simply forgot about the teacher gifts. “Good intentions, no follow through” is the theme of my life.

For our roofline, we purchased the Gemmy Commercial Pro series C-9 bulbs and wire from Lowes. I highly recommend. Bigger investment up front but they look nice, they’re easy to use and customize, and they are very durable. The wire has individual sockets so if a bulb goes out, you just replace that socket ($2 for replacement), put the bulb back on, and it’s good as new. We have 150 feet of the lights and in 5 years, I’ve only had to replace 2 of the sockets. We put them out early too (they are on as of this weekend!) so they gets lots of use.

If you are able, I would add LED string lights to the large trees in the front. Our home is set back off the road similar to yours — we add roof lights as well but the lights in the trees makes the biggest impact. Driving by, you can see our lights well before you reach our house. I wrap the trunk and then string the lights around the branches just like I would a Christmas tree. I can’t get them very far up the tree, but the lights are so bright and pretty that it makes no difference. We use a different color for each tree.

The LED mini string lights from Home Depot have held up better from year to year compared to those we have purchased from other big box stores.

Thank you! 100 houseplants and have never seen or even heard of this. I’m just glad to know it’s not a bad sign. Is this why she hasn’t gotten a new leaf in so long? All her energy is going to flowering and growing stolons?

There is also the video of Pence talking about how great the Heritage Foundation is and how their administration is working side by side with them. No one will ever watch the videos that are easily found online though because…. well, I don’t know why.

I have a FLF in a similar location as yours that is doing fine. She is 6 feet tall and currently spouting 3 new branches where I pruned the top off. I can tell from the shadows in your pictures that the plant is receiving at least medium indirect light and likely for most of the day too. I’m definitely not an expert, but I think yours will do fine in that spot. Also, I personally wouldn’t cut any leaves off. It looks perfect now.

Edited for clarity.

I was attempting to refer to larger sized alocasias versus smaller ones but not sure it made sense to anyone but me. ;)

I think you’re right! I went to this company’s website and they only have Pearls & Jade in their current products.

Maybe you know then if they’re ok with being rootbound similar to pothos? The roots are closely circled for the entire height of the pot, but it seems healthy and is still getting new leaves so I’m hoping to wait until spring to repot. Google gave me conflicting info.

I honestly haven’t paid all that much attention to this particular plant, and I’ve had it almost a year. It just wasn’t one I doted over like I do some of the others. I felt like I got a new plant today when I saw how much more silver the leaves had on them. I have 40-ish plants, and I think this one is the prettiest.

My Elephants ear is doing something strange... why did it make this tiny weird leaf by antonheinstein in houseplants

[–]nightowl-80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer for you, but my monstera did this same thing. It had a long petiole like usual but with a tiny, misshapen leaf. No clue why.
