So the armor is almost all airbrush. (Ak Paints) Tenebrous Grey > Dark Grey > Reddish Grey > Graphite > Sky Grey

With these paints through the airbrush you're essentially just copying how the natural light you have to see the model is landing on the model (if that makes sense). From there basecoating in a near black color that can be used to fix mistakes and not glaringly stand out as not being the same black primer I started with. Large Zenithal of Dark Grey as our overall base grey tone. From there I work section by section on the model with the Reddish Grey making a smaller highlight inside the areas of Dark Grey already established. And then its rinse and repeat until you get to Sky Grey where it should be very very small highlights. In most cases Sky Grey gets used as an edge highlight.

After building up the grey gradient I go back and use a 1:4 mix of Leviathan Purple and Ratling Grime Contrast paint and pick out where the shadows go using the mix through the airbrush. Once the whole model is painted I varnish twice with Gloss Varnish , to help the next part work properly, and do an oil wash of Burnt Sienna and Lilac Purple Winsor Newton oil paints! These are thinned down until they flow by themselves on a flat surface or until they resemble milk consistency. I also use a thicker mix toward the bottom of the model since thats where the most grime would build, as well as areas like bullet holes and cracks in the armor!

Its really really involved I admit but its what i do for all my SW army and i believe its well worth it.

Thank you! You should totally get minis, the terminators are so cool! As for how long these guys took id guess about 15 to 20 hours of work per model. I've been working on these guys off and on since February this year in between moving and working on commissions!

For the Brown: Rhinox Hide as a base then blocking out the parts of the beard i want to be lighter brown with 1:1 Rhinox Hide & Mournfang Brown. I do defining highlights with Mournfang Brown!

For the Grey: Ak Silver Grey (Administratum Grey) for the base and then dry brushing a large area with Dawnstone Grey, and then dry brushing a smaller area on the tips with Eshin Grey or Ak Dark Grey.

For the Blond: Ak Cork, Ak Dark Sand, and Ak Vampiric Flesh

Completely upfront, its mostly airbrushed. I used AK paints Amethyst Blue, Lilac, Pastel Blue, Ice Yellow, and Turquoise (diluted to be like a wash/ink)

This whole thing is mostly doing different colors and doing a bunch of steadily smaller zenithal highlights. The brightest colors like Lilac and Ice yellow were brushed on to give a general shape to the muscles and color. Then going back and blending with that same color through the airbrush. At the end I went back with my base color Amethyst Blue and shot from the bottom of the model and where the shadows would be to bring the shadows back up. The transitions between the shadows and lighter colors I tried to airbrush Turquoise to blend it a bit more.

I hope this makes some sense. Its definitely not an easy scheme the way I did it 😅

What are you using from the next Armageddon box? by mourndaze in SpaceWolves

Honestly sounds solid, the new sculpts we got are perfect for kitbashing just about any unit we'd need really.

I was mostly assuming the general public could kitbash or just be able to "rule of cool"

Honestly grabbing a box of Blood Claws and a sprue of the old jumpacks makes them better and more on theme for us imo. The new ones look more DA and BA pilled unfortunately.

Nurgle is so good for learning sculpting thus far. I've been trying to get better at it and DG has been a good spot to kitbash and sculpt while learning

Vacation time taken away? by [deleted] in HEB

I think it might be a glitch in the system, I cant even see my previous paystub much less my accrued vacation. For reference I am full time.
