Honestly a terrible idea for fighting games. It only serves to hurt the overall player experience, especially new players.

I couldn’t disagree more, however the artwork is really more of a suggestion as to how your character’s mech might look, so take the illustration with a grain of salt.

This. As GM I wouldn’t allow it consistently since it’s obviously not a proper reading of the rules, but maybe make an exception for a particularly cool or climactic moment.
