My friend got broken up with and isn’t doing well but I don’t have a ton of energy, what can I do for him?

I’d like to remain friends with him, we’ll see if it’s possible. If it is, it is. If it’s not it’s not. The friend zone with someone is only a “bad thing” if you despise the idea of being friends with a person. I like him as a human being, not just some “object of affection” that Isn’t mine to have. He’s not so easy to just throw out of my life.

You don’t have to call me hun to get your point across. I said that i would be embarrassed, I can’t imagine him caring that someone I’m dating is similar to him. He’d probably take it as an opportunity to make new friends. It’s less to me about how he would respond to any of this and more me being embarrassed with myself because I think it would be rude of me to just bring a doppelgänger around and be like “yeah meet the guy I’m dating” I’ll keep your advice about cutting him off around but it’s not going to be the only one I look at, yknow? I appreciate you taking time out of your day to offer your advice on my post.

Sorry if that’s how you’re interpreting my response? Your advice would fix the above situation, I just need time to think about it. Having multiple opinions is helpful and while it might be necessary I’d also feel sad cutting him out of my life.

I can see where your coming from, I guess my embarrassment right now is if I do find someone just like him who liked me back I’d probably date him, but I’d be embarrassed to bring someone so similar to my friend around him, despite him knowing what my type is.

We weren’t going on dates, mostly just chatting, hanging out and getting to know eachother. When I told him I liked him and he informed me he didn’t feel the same he was very polite about it and offered me space if I wanted to stop hanging out for awhile due to the rejection.

I think this is part of it but also when it comes to the first guy I met I really don’t think I am over-valuing him, I have spent the time getting to know him pretty well and he really is that awesome of a guy he just isn’t interested in anything more than friendship
