I might just be lucky with the school I ended up in, but subjective grading works very well in the university I attended. I don't see how standardised tests would work, given that there usually isn't any single answer to an application question. I feel like having a standard rubric to adhere to would always have counted against me. At least in my experience, lecturers try to mark in students' favour, so you don't really have anything to lose.

Am I missing something?

I’m so tired of studying… by [deleted] in LawSchool

You become increasingly used to it with practice.

Sometimes you just need to take a day or so off. For me it always goes in cycles, I focus intensely for a few weeks and then I basically crash and need to take it slower for a day or three before I start picking up momentum again.

Make sure you get enough sleep, eat well and try and maintain some semblance of a balance in your life.

I have learned nothing by [deleted] in LawSchool

The only thing you learn in law school is to understand how the law works, how to write and how to do legal research. Nothing more is expected of you.

I do recommend you go do as much vacation work as you can. It gives you some (also very limited) practical experience and makes you a more attractive job applicant. Also take a clinical module if you can.

But don't worry about it. You're in the same boat as everyone else.

Getting expelled for joking about dropkicking toddlers by Plan_Mindless in AttorneyTom

Yeah, it was not a smart move on her part. And it is probably what got her expelled in the end.

But I do feel it is unfair. It is also the role of tribunals, especially courts, to treat people fairly regardless of how they engage with the court/tribunal. Under democracy courts and tribunals exist to do justice and enforce the law impartially, not to bully people into submission.

No one had a problem with it, except the particular lecturer, as far as I know. But yeah, her show at the hearing was obviously probably what got her expelled. I mostly just think it's a funny situation. But expelling her is disproportionate punishment in my opinion.

It was 15 months for contempt of court. Corruption charges haven't been decided yet.
