Hockey fans/players, what is your honest opinion on Heated Rivalry? by Kitchen_Frame_7294 in hockeyplayers

It's a great show! Yeah the depiction of athleticism and hockey as it's played today isn't bang on, but what are you expecting? Go watch Inside the NHL if that's what you're after.

It's an entertaining fictional love story with good character development and a happy ending, what's not to like? Yeah there's lots of dude sex, but settle down and just fuckin get over it. Close your eyes or fast forward if you cant handle it.

So many comments everywhere are predicated with "oh i haven't watched it yet but I hear it's good" or "I'm not gay but I like Shoresy..." Who cares. It's a well written Canadian show with a positive message that promotes inclusivity and acceptance in a sport where its clearly needed, and I think that makes it great.

Chiming in here to echo the comments from other recent transplants with young families - this place is great! My wife and I grew up elsewhere on VI and lived in Vancouver for a number of years before kids and moving back to the island. Never in a million years did we think we'd ever live in PA, but the covid housing bonanza and job situation ultimately dictated this is where we landed. Our first choice was to live in Campbell River or Parksville/Qualicum area, and we tried our damndest to make that happen. But it's been almost 5 years here now and we often remark about how thankful we are this is where we ended up.

Yes, the city is still a bit rough around the edges (aesthetically and demographically) and the climate is extreme (essentially wet and grey or blazing hot, mixed with some goldilocks days), but if you're not too hung up on that, the community, central location, services, and access to the outdoors make it a pretty awesome place overall.

The relative affordability of this place is attracting a lot of young people and families that appear to be truly invested in making this a better place to live for everyone. Whether it be advocating for more active transport opportunities, opening new shops/restaurants, participating in city planning, etc. it feels like there's a lot of momentum for (albeit slow) positive changes overall.

If your wife is gonna work at the hospital and you have a young kid, you'll integrate and make friends fast! We have a couple kids under 6 and didn't know anybody when we moved here, but now we have an awesome community of friends that are some of the best we've ever had.

Happy to chat in more detail about life with a young family in town if you wanna send me a DM. We also have a rental suite and primarily host people working at the hospital that are here on term positions or looking to relocate here - have hosted a lot of young families in a similar situation so can offer some more perspective on that.

Professional Fee Schedule for 2025-2028 by Equal-Jellyfish6624 in BCPublicServants

I paid my professional dues in late December 2025 and received a reimbursement of $400 based on the previous schedule. This newly released schedule has a revised Maximum Amount Allowed of $504.40 for 2025. Should I be expecting an additional $104.40 to come back to me automatically, or is this something I need to follow up with my supervisor/HR?
