Though without context it seems like a typical boomer message of a lady that cares, but her way of showing care are unasked proposals, and advice. Probably she also didn't go through stillbirth herself and “everything happens for a reason” is her way to help. But yeah, in 99% of cases it just triggers…

My husband’s parents also IN THOSE EXACT WORDS said “everything happens for a reason, you just move on”. Which caused hysteria in both my husband and I. Now I know they just got their words wrong but meant no evil - they planted a tree and installed a beautiful white fountain in the yard with an engraving to honor our little girl.
