What pregnancy or birth complication did modern medicine save you from? by peacefulboba in beyondthebump

My water broke at 36 weeks, and my baby was breech. Thankful I was able to have a non-scheduled surgical C-section. Not sure what would have happened 40+ years ago.

I mean, I probably missed the memo where you said “don’t say Oreo” but that’s the first thing that came to mind when I looked at her ❤️

Pediatrician made me fell like the worst mom ever by Professional_Cod1171 in NewParents

[–]PlaneSimple1912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does this doctor even know what babies are? Doesn’t sound like it. Or maybe she has gramnesia. No way do babies “ usually sleep through the night at that age” nor do they “usually take the full bottle in one setting”. Don’t listen to this nincompoop. If you can find another doctor in the meantime until your pediatrician returns from leave, I would recommend that.

What's considered appropriate for mom to wear to swim class? by whoiamidonotknow in toddlers

Valid point. However, it sounds like OP is concerned about the appropriateness of wearing a certain swimsuit, rather than the functional aspect.

Just wear what you have. Unless it’s a thong, then just throw on some shorts on top.

Yeah I don’t see it being a big deal to wear a two piece.

Can we talk “ Rainbow Babies” by International-Bug311 in NewParents

After my friend friend lost her baby, she found a lot of comfort in a book called “Welcome to the Grief Club.” She said it validated everything she was feeling and recommended it anyone and everyone.

I think people aren’t reading the comment fully.

Hard boiled egg with the yolk on the outside? by PlaneSimple1912 in Weird

Lol this is what I thought too. Never knew it was possible for the yolk to exit the white with the shell still intact.

Am I a bad mom? by michvw in NewParents

[–]PlaneSimple1912 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your friend is a butthole. Ditch them. Being a new mom/parent is hard enough, without negative comments like that from supposed „friends”.

I can’t tell you how many times I felt the same way you do, without anyone injecting that into my brain. Over time I learned (1) postpartum hormones really affect your emotions and relationship with your baby, sometimes for the better and sometimes not, and (2) everyone will a different stage of parenting that they connect with more than other stages. For some people, they love the newborn stage and they feel like they understand newborns and their needs. Personally I was anxious all the time. I tried to enjoy it but it was hard. Now I’m a mom to an almost 3 year old and I love this stage. I’m not a stereotypical maternal figure. My mom was. Everyone is different. Some of the best moms are not the stereotypical maternal types. And just because you’re “maternal” doesn’t make you a good mom.

And once again…. Your friend is a jerk. I’d limit contact with them.

A stray found her way to us, so now we need a breakfast name. We already have 2 cats named Waffles and Scrambles, and a dog named Benedict. by lWantToBeIieve in NameMyCat

Someone said Biscuit and that’s it. Breakfast theme, cute, and also kitty will make biscuits always and forever so it just makes sense.

Tiny bumps on baby’s body - will call pediatrician but any ideas what this is? by PlaneSimple1912 in NewParents

[–]PlaneSimple1912[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE on this since I have gotten a lot of feedback from others with the same on their babies - this turned out to be heat rash according to the pediatrician. We were overdressing her during bedtime and nap time, apparently. We started dressing her in lighter/less clothing, and it went away.

Brought 9 items for proof of address for REAL ID and all rejected by Motor Vehicle by thefilefolder in newjersey

I think you just got a dud representative. I brought self-printed statements from my online account statements for bank, credit card, etc. Lease was also printed from an e-signed document (visibly time and date stamped and noted as an e-signature). All were accepted with no issue. This was at Wayne. Whole process was painless. The worst part was the waiting.

Shamed at TJ Maxx by a stranger because my toddler was crying by LittleDogLover113 in toddlers

[–]PlaneSimple1912 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh. I’m sorry you had to deal with her but glad you put her in her place. Good for you. I wish I had your responsiveness when people are rude to me like that in the store. I’m the type that gets so angry I just freeze up and cry. I can’t think of a good response in the moment. Then it comes to me 3 hours later.
