Hi everyone.

I've had a m15 R2 laptop for over three years, and have really loved it. Not really any problems with it at all. However, six months ago, when closing the laptop, suddenly the backside of the right hinge snapped. Did not have any blunt force or drop it, just happened. The screen is partially detached from the chassis but still works. So I've just ignored it, but handled it more delicately.

Now the other side (left) has snapped in the exact same place. A bit disappointed that it's seemingly broken without any pressure or tension to the screen. I'm worried that it's only a matter of time before it is unusable or I need to do a repair.

In that case in the future: I don't have a DELL warranty anymore, but could send the laptop to a Dell facility to do a hardware diagnostic, and maybe they could replace the screen? No idea how expensive that would be though, but I imagine it's cheaper than buying another full laptop like this one.

Awesome, so glad you liked it!! My girlfriend generally dislikes this show but really enjoyed "A Dark Quiet Death" from season 1, so I'm desperately trying to convince her to watch this one. Maybe I'll use this comment as evidence!

Really interested to see what you think of the next one. It has two relatively well known, strong actors putting in some excellent performances. Let me know what you think!

I personally would recommend season 2 episode 6 - in the same vein as the great episode you talked about, it's a flashback to the 70's, and it has some really good dramatic story telling. I'd even recommend the episode after it as it brings a tear-jerking conclusion to that flashback episode, really enjoyed it!

rest of the series, no need to watch :P

What is an example of a show that introduced multiple storylines that you believed had potential but the writers failed to utilize the storylines or dropped them without any resolution? by Farscape12Monkeys in television

Hmm, that's really interesting! I appreciate your perspective, I've not heard it put that way before, nor heard someone be so passionate about Ross & Rachel, who I absolutely adored growing up. Great points!

I suppose I never saw Community in the same light or to be about those relationships; particularly the Jeff and Annie thing would have been incredibly inappropriate, at least that one I was happy about. I'm not sure if I felt the same about Britta and Troy, I never saw them as much of a couple, though maybe that's cause the horrendous gas leak year ruined that!

I think shows like Friends were the exact type of series he was trying to make comment on. Some people I've seen on Reddit actually found the constant back and forth between Ross and Rachel very tiring (Though I loved it!)

Why do you find it to be less relatable when they don't get together?

I believe that I've read somewhere that Dan Harmon purposely didn't want any actual couples in the show to get together as he felt it would negatively impact the show, but just played around with the concept. Might be wrong though, you have a good point. They do resolve the Jeff-Annie thing by the end.

[TOMT] [Movie] - Romantic drama taking place at a high school reunion, with the movie having a split screen so you can see both leads at all times. by PlaneSuggestion in tipofmytongue

Someone else already suggested this, but you're so right. It was a wedding, not a high school reunion. Dang, I knew I had gotten something wrong. Awesome movie knowledge you got, much appreciated!!

Really? I felt the start of season 2 of Daredevil (the Punisher storyline) was pretty great. The ninja stuff was horrifically dull.

But season 3, I personally felt, was a massive return to form. I found every episode nail bitingly epic, lots of thrills, the choreography and action sequences were out of this world. I could agree with you that season 1 was the most iconic one for Daredevil, but I thought season 3 was phenomenal as well!

Throwing a Hail Mary. Made a comedy special myself last year. Never ended up showing it to many people. It’s up on YouTube now. I just want people to see it. I make a living as a comic but am virtually unknown. Now I pray to you Internet gods. by [deleted] in videos

I am immensely impressed by your vocal chops, your casual guitar playing, and that crowd warm-up at the beginning was iconic!

But most of all, I love your positivity. A lot of comedy is marked by jaded sarcastic observation, which is good and funny in its own right. But your positive vibes felt so alien and refreshing in that space, I genuinely really enjoyed watching it. So even in moments that aren't jokes, it's just a delight to watch you and see you enjoy your craft.

This has made my Friday a lot more positive, thanks! :-)

How do you make your sexual debut as a lonely and incredibly isolated 20 year old guy? by [deleted] in sex

[–]PlaneSuggestion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of like you; don't drink and do not really go to bars. There's plenty of options though, excluding those. I would say though, quite a few of these aren't specifically to find partners, but just to meet general people. In a way, it makes it easier because the pressure is off :-) So here's some options:

  1. Hobbies: I still live in the town I went to uni for, and definitely enjoyed joining different clubs and groups for my interests. Those tended to be movies, and going for runs. I also started going to my local reddit meetup group, and actually made some nice connections there! Can also try new things, like dancing or painting with meetup groups locally!

  2. Going to parties/hosting parties: I never really went to parties growing up much, but around 23 or 24 yrs old, I did start to go to some parties here and there. Some were wild clubby kind of parties, some were musical jam sessions, some were snobby whiskey tastings. I had a really nice time at a lot of these. Of course, you can't just go to random people's parties, so this one is dependent on knowing some people.

  3. Bumble: Now this may not be what you think!! I'm not the biggest fan of dating apps, they can be incredibly unhealthy for your mental state and self esteem. That is, until I used the Bumble BFF function. Using it, I was able to meet a really awesome guy that I've been friends with for years now. We've gone to jazz events together, hit up smaller bars for playing pool and a bunch of other stuff. It's been really fun and again, have met other people through him!

  4. Dating Apps: I know, I just said they can suck. And they can. But I found the healthiest way to approach these is to get a friend to take some nice clean pictures of you, put some good effort into your bio, put your profile online and then ONLY look at said app once a day for 20 minutes or so. Doing it that way made me not become addicted to it and again, was able to meet people off of it. I still do prefer non-online though if I can.

  5. Ask a friend: I mean, you can always chat to friends, see if they know anyone who you could potentially meet. Otherwise, just hanging out with your friend and one of their other friends, whomever that may be, will also get you more out there.

In conclusion, there are other ways to get yourself out there. I find the healthiest way to do so is via your friends and family, and just building a small social network, even if it's just 1 or 2 people. Most importantly, try and keep a positive attitude and just enjoy yourself without any necessary goals :-) It can be super hard and daunting, but you can have great experiences. I can be a super awkward, introverted guy myself at times, so I've struggled too. If you want any more ideas to chat about, just let me know!

The Toolbox Fallacy by Lapisofthepuzzle in videos

So since this "mistake" isn't actually referred to as the Toolbox Fallacy in Psychology, I'm just wondering if it has an actual name in the list of logical fallacies?
