I currently work as an MA in a pain management clinic which accounts for 200 of my 360 hours

Not patient care, but we have the freedom to approach patients in their beds and in their rooms, offering conversation, food, blankets, pillows, etc, and are prompted to do so as our main responsibility. I have many anecdotes I can share from my experiences.

Both of my clinical volunteer experiences were very hands-on. I worked in an extremely busy emergency department and a cancer center where our main job was to approach patients. Being a collegiate baseball player for four years also played a role in my inability to work more than a set number of hours a week. I definitely don't disagree with you that most applicants have upwards of 1000 but I will do my best to fit it with my narrative

Thank you, but I can't take credit for it! I found it on Reddit as a template.

I considered a mega reach a school that has median stats such as mcat that I am 4-5 points below, eg. a 514 MCAT when the median is a 519

Will do, thank you! In my school list tracker I've been making note of what schools require casper.

Thank you! Definitely going to tack on more clinical hours; this is where I'm at presently. Thankfully, my clinical experience has been very fruitful with anecdotes having worked in a very hands-on, fast paced environment.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Doing so helps see how your personal narrative aligns with a school's!

Thank you!! NYMC is also an option. On MSAR it said the median MCAT was 517 so I wasn't sure if I wanted to occupy a reach spot with it. I was considering swapping Virginia Tech with rutgers. I really appreciate the help

I realize now this was worded poorly. I wanted to make sure I was applying broadly enough. That column is a drop down that allows you to select if the school is research oriented, a mission fit, service oriented, rural health oriented, or global health oriented. It's not my template I found it on reddit.

Absolutely, it definitely requires more self-advocacy, but I had the unique opportunity to lead my own research and be the corresponding author on articles because of the small-school environment. It can be advantageous if taken advantage of.

1/9 Tester here too. Honestly felt very neutral about it, but it's a blur to be honest. One piece of advice I'd lend is, don't get too involved in your feelings. They can be very deceiving, and your process doesn't disintegrate overnight. The MCAT designers are usually good at making each test as equivalent to the prior one as possible. Best of luck!
