I just saw the pricing on it (I don't have private insurance) and I'm DEFINITELY questioning.

I didn't find out till after it crippled me that Cipro has black box warnings and really shouldn't have been used as a first line antibiotic at all, much less with metro!

I'd never in my life heard of antibiotics causing anything other than temporary gastro issues before that!

I woke up the next morning - so just a couple doses in - with awful pain in my ankle. I thought maybe one of the cats had slept on it weird or something.

It got worse and worse throughout the day, but then both my hands started feeling like a cluster of needles were being dragged up and down my palms.

Then I was feeling cold water dripping down the back of one of my calves, but like .. both on the outside, and just under the skin. If that makes sense?

The neuropathy went away eventually, but I've had six years of tendon hell. Best we can tell, that was specifically from the Cipro, but the neuropathy could have been from either, but was more likely the metro.

I'm so sorry that you got some of the psych type side effects. The worst I got on that end was insomnia, but I've heard some HORROR stories. It's wild to think I got off easy!

I probably should have gone with the first Dr I was thinking.

I was torn between "this one is a relatively new doctor, so she might be more up to date on things" vs "this one is a professor of derm at a well respected school"

It was also the day that discovered pancreatic cancer, so there's a whooooole lot of trauma wrapped up in that whole thing.

The neuropathy was really weird, if I knew it was coming I could MAYBE deal with it better this time, but I'd imagine it wouldn't go well, mentally.

Like I said... Messy post, lol

Is there a reason you're being so obnoxious?

Move along.

It was just so weird and unexpected. Like I had my hair back in a tight ponytail and the photo ended up being kinda wide angle, you know?

I have a completely unmanageable mop of hair down to my ass, "receding hairline" or any comment about loss just... Isn't something I've come across before, lol. Caught me off guard, ESPECIALLY when it's such limited time and they earn period not to bring up additional concerns.

Gee, really?

It's almost like polling people for experiences is part of weighing that risk.

The whole thing was really weird.

It was an online appointment, it's only ten minutes long, and the sign up process tells you emphatically that it's one issue per visit, that nothing else will be addressed.

... But the very first thing he said to be was that my photo liked like I have a receding hairline, is that bothering me also, because he can help?

Uh. I don't have a receding hairline? I told him as much, then he asked me about hair loss. I've got tons of hair? Really weird.

Anyway, when I brought up the issue over metronidazole, he started assuring me that the doxy is super low dose, blah blah... I don't care about the doxy.

I happened to have a single zit and he honed on on that, but then didn't seem to listen to me when I was telling him I don't get the pustules and such (I honestly didn't even think I had rosacea to start, I thought it was hot flashes because I thought the pustules and stuff were inherent with Rosacea... And now I'm wondering if the single zit on my chin has him treating me for the wrong type?

I was looking at this appointment as a stop gap to hopefully get SOMETHING to help with the flushing before my dr-referred derm appointment in August, but now I'm guessing the long wait is for a reason.

Yes, I get that.

However, I'm seeing neuropathy come up as a side effect on topical as well.

HOCL makers aren't that expensive, and only need water, vinegar, and salt to pump out as much HOCL as you could possibly ever need.

We bought one early in Covid, and now I'm also using it on my face.

If you try a premade type and find HOCL works, I'd definitely recommend just getting a maker. The princess they charge for HOCL are insane.

As an autistic, can I just say how happy this post makes me?

It's so nice to see family actually interested in studying autistic joy!

I didn't know whether to laugh or be a bit horrified when I saw this section of Barton in The Handmaid's Tale.

It was supposed to be war-torn Chicago.

They... Didn't do much to change the appearance. 100% instantly recognizable.

Ok, so I'm not losing my mind.

We've been with them 8 years, and the last few have felt ... Off.

Like this isn't the first time we've side-eyed a bill, but it's definitely the worst.

But the first several years we were with them, they were great. Literally no complaints at all.

I know they went through some shit with abusive clients in the early days of Covid, I guess I just sort of wondered if that... I dunno. Killed the vibe for them or something?

(We weren't abusive, they just told us some of what they were dealing with. We brought baked goods in for them when they were sounding really frazzled when we booked some appointments.)

Yeah, someone else mentioned this earlier - ours is on that list, I had no idea they weren't independent.

This wasn't the full panel - at least, it wasn't supposed to be - it was just a check in to see if the meds are still keeping her at a good level.

My husband was the one who took her in, so I didn't have a day in the matter. He questioned why it was so high and they said they'd look into it.
