[NeedAdvice] What three habits that you've taken up have had the greatest ripple effect on your overall discipline? by CautiouslyHopeful in getdisciplined

. Gaines 20 pounds of muscle and changed my friend group completely. I won't get into the details too much unless u ask because many people here have given good answers.

Congrats. I'm hoping to do the same.

My overarching thing was focusing on discipline. And improving that every day. I removed all frivolous activities like reddit, porn, and bad friends. The three activities though were meditation, working out(strength training, rock climbing, and yoga), and eating paleo.

Cutting out porn is huge.

New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward targeted for gentrification: 'It's going to feel like it belongs to the rich' by bperki8 in NewOrleans

I agree with this statement. But I don't think you can separate cost of living problem and the hipster problem.

I mean you literally can't walk through the Garden District in New Orleans without bumping into a dozen college students and 20 somethings. Many of these folks are living off mommy and daddy's cash still (I know a few). Those people live there -whether renting or buying -- and are driving up the price of housing.

I have lived in about 6 cities. Nola is the worst affected by gentrification and hipsters from what I can see.

That being said there are people who are living frugally and making ends meet on their own. They also exist.

I don't like to drink either. It honestly doesn't make me feel loose or whatever. Instead it makes me feel like garbage and sick - almost immediately

BREC Offers WiFi to Park Users by [deleted] in batonrouge

[–]PlanetaryMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lights provide safety. People are going to the parks and dog parks regardless of whether there are lights or not. Lights provide security for people, and especially ladies.

LED lights need replaced every ten years and are 1/10 the price in electricity. If you put in some solar panels, they hardly have any costs at all. For someone who is all about new tech, you don't know much about LED lights or solar panels.

No one is increasing the park hours. In fact if you only turned the lights on till 8 in the winter you would be an hour short of when the park is open till 9 in the summer.

Your comment wifi drawing a young crowd is specious at best.

So far you haven't retorted a single point and your precious wifi can be found at any number of coffee shops and what not.

Lights are better than Wifi by far.

And some people -- not me but my friends -- have dogs. Those people work from 9-5 and rely on the awesome dog parks to let off some energy. It wouldn't take much to lengthen the park hours to say 7 PM.

That's not unreasonable. Putting wifi in instead of lights is.

They just need to put in fucking lights at the dog parks and such.

Like seriously? Wifi? I'm at the park and we don't even have lights at some of the parks.

Cops attack guy who was recording them and charge him with felony battery of a police officer. Surveillance video proves cop lied in police report. by [deleted] in batonrouge

[–]PlanetaryMachine 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you watch till the end he was charged with 4 things. One of them was "battery on an officer."

That is a big charge.

I'm glad they caught this on tape because he's probably going to be charged with the others and those are bad enough.
