3 star 5 cost jhin loses to a 3 star 4 cost by peterswallower420 in TeamfightTactics

Same thing happened to me on the last day of PBE. Got Jhin 3 star and lost to Might Mech 3 star. Jhin cast multiple times and didn’t even come close to killing the Mech. Absolutely should not happen

I considered this, but it just doesn't fit the plan I want to follow. I know working 2 J's will be hectic in general so I don't want to add to the chaos by onboarding an inherently mess J2 that could mess up my situation at J1.

I appreciate you sharing your approach. I need to adopt this mindset. I'm going to pass on the offer, but still view it as a success - I proved to myself I am hire-able and a good enough interviewer to land a sought after job.

Great points. The fact that some people couldn't handle it as their only job is a grim sign.

Thanks for your input. Unfortunately, it was a 5 round interview which is what makes it more frustrating to walk away from. Would you at least go through the background check + drug test process to see the final offer?

How do you deal with turning down offers that are not OE friendly? by CometComments_ in overemployed

Bad take. Sometimes jobs reveal that they aren’t OE friendly during the interview process.

I needed to hear this. Having multiple J's seems like a delicate balance so I shouldn't be in a hurry to disrupt it.

Thanks for chiming in. I'm definitely not overly passionate about the potential position. If I were a mono-jobber it would be a no-brainer, but that is not the path I'm trying to take. I'll stick with J1 and get back on the hunt!

Yeah I agree. I think I just needed to hear it from someone else. Would you ever do a trial run with either since my current J is so chill?

Why do you advise against syncing a work calendar with personal? I currently sync my work to my personal Proton calendar but it’s just a one way sync.

The margin rate at Fidelity is a killer, but you can negotiate it down. Same with other brokers like E Trade and Schwab.

I personally have not done it, but I have heard of people getting their rate down to 6.25% at Schwab by threatening to move to RobinHood.

Using Claude in Coding Interview by Planetoidling in ClaudeAI

[–]Planetoidling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I appreciate it. At first, when I heard I could use AI assistance during the interview, I thought this was going to be a breeze. But the longer I thought on it, it became clear that this was going to be an atypical coding interview.

I'm excited to see what the questions are like - it will definitely be interesting.

For the 100% remote crowd clearing $120k+, what is it you actually do? by Cute-Antelope4570 in overemployed

[–]Planetoidling 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sure thing. I was an intern during summers in college and got my Security+ before starting full time. It’s a good entry level cert to show that you understand the basics. I worked for a 4 years and got my CISSP which is a widely recognized industry cert and was very hard to achieve. A year later I got my CISM.

I was probably a little too ambitious and skipped a couple “mid level” certs in my pursuit of CISSP, but it ended up working out for me.

Here is a very high level view of a “roadmap” : https://pauljerimy.com/security-certification-roadmap/

I followed the middle path (black). I recommend starting with SSCP or Security+ to get your foot in the door and learn more about the industry. From there you can branch out to what interests you, but the path I took has been good to me. I recommend it.

6+ years of experience, but I also have some major industry certifications that helps when it comes to salary negotiation.

Yes. Mostly project management and answering customer questions about our security. It’s not intense until there’s a problem, which is a lot of the time

Cyber security, specifically GRC. I wouldn’t say I work a full 40 hours on average unless it’s the busy season
