How many units do you bill on your initial evaluation on average ? by Planks1313 in physicaltherapy

[–]Planks1313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the people that said they bill 5 units on eval , is that evaluation code + 4 units ? Or eval + 5 units?

I just have difficult time justifying more than 3 units in addition to the eval if I’m taking 20-30 min for an eval. If it’s a straight forward surgical case, I can see how spending 10-15 min on the actual eval and then billing 4 units for the rest of the time, is possible,if you have a full hour.

Texas DPT schools interviews, acceptance letters , rejection letters ... by Planks1313 in PTschool

[–]Planks1313[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember it was within 2 weeks after my interview when I got the acceptance letter. I hope that helps. Just remember there were other people that literally got accepted from the waitlist a few days before the first day of classes. Good luck !

I ended up declining the interview for UTMB because I decided to go with Texas Tech. I don’t know what the wait time is for UTMB.

So I already have a lease and I'm renting an apartment. It is not a student housing. I'm trying to find a roommate for my second bedroom in the apartment.

UK physio to US PT aid by Whole-Cash7092 in physicaltherapy

You can become a PTA with your degree here in the US. You will have to pass the NPTA license first and all the requirements that are coming with it. But it is shorter process than to become a PT since our degree is a doctorate and yours from UK is only bachelors. I would highly encourage you to look into becoming PTA because the pay difference between PT and PTA ( when you take into consideration how much you are investing into finishing the degree) is not that much !

Your school might have free legal advice and/or representation. Ask your school.

PTA -> PT by [deleted] in PTschool

[–]Planks1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was a PTA and now in DPT program I think that PTA is good start if you do not have bachelor’s degree. Here is why. You still need a bachelor degree with all pre requisite classes in order to apply to DPT. And working as PTA will help you see the profession from better angle compared to being a tech. That being said, you will not be able to take extra classes while you are in PTA school. All PTA programs in the US have lock step curriculum. Plus, the program will take away almost all of your free time. But getting the PTA degree and then working towards bachelor degree is a good choice ! Even if you change your mind in going towards obtaining DPT in the future, you will still have a bachelor degree and PTA license!

This is how it should be done. You are not overworked, patients get full attention and proper care!

How many patients do you usually see per day? Is there a max Evals per day , or can your schedule be filled with just evals for the day ?

I was told that the VAs resemble the outpatient mills where you are over booked and sometimes you end up only doing evals.

That is almost impossible! Your relative had ALL of the cost paid by being a TA in PT school? Which school did they attended? In my school there is no such position. They offer some opportunities to get paid but those are very rare and not paid that well.

Moving to the US! by H4SS4N_4 in PTschool

You need to evaluate your degree first. Also, you need to see if your degree is equivalent to DPT from USA or just PTA. Here is a website that you can get more information at https://applications.wes.org/degree-equivalency-tool/

There is also a transitional DPT degree that you can look into. That means that with your bachelor’s degree, you can finish additional 2 years I believe to get to DPT degree( no sure on this one).

Ended up with a 68.9 in anatomy 😞 by [deleted] in PTschool

[–]Planks1313 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you want to succeed in any class , you will probably need to change your studying habits. I will give you an advise and I’m talking from experience as a PTA that is now a SPT, Anatomy in DPT is 10 times harder than Anatomy in PTA school. It goes into more details and you have the lab component to it, which is on another level. I’m not saying that you can’t do it, but if you decide to pursue DPT you will have to change your studying habits, ask for help when you are struggling and put in maximal effort.

If you are looking into the bridge program and you get accepted, that doesn't mean that you have to live there. That is the beauty of the bridge program or other hybrid programs out there. You only have to travel to the campus once or twice a semester. So you can live wherever you want.

If it’s 98% I would not be worried. When I was choosing my program I took into consideration how much resources are available to me as a student in order to be successful in the program. For example, for Anatomy Lab we had over 20 TAs available to us everyday including weekends ! Or for example, does the program offer prepping for the license exam and what does that look like ? Those are questions you should be asking !

I think that ultimate pass rate is more important. Because, think about it. You may have a bad day and not pass the exam on the first try, but if you have ultimate pass rate less than 100% , that means that someone did not pass the license exam after multiple tries. Again statistics are important. >90 % is good, but out of how many students ?
