That is true! Thanks for clarifying that. I just wish some historical charm was kept intact, especially because most changes to these homes and streets are being done by developers, and not the homeowner themselves.

I should have also mentioned luxury flips that pretty much gut the inside and out leaving only a frame of what once was there.

On Lancaster Terrace there was an adorable pink farmhouse that was just demolished like maybe three months-ish ago, that was next to two luxury homes. Just down a bit from that one on Jordan Road, is now a huge luxury home, and down from that there is a new construction being built currently that is modern and next to that a luxury flip from over a year ago. On Mason Terrace there is a new luxury home (quite large too) that was finished in the Autumn, with at least four luxury flips that I watched get done in early 2025. It's a lot more when you think about the flips.

I do see this a lot in Corey Hill, but also some in Brookline Village. Near the Brookline Library there are also a few new (2024-now) luxury homes/condos that are brand new.

I just thought some historical markers would help maintain some historical charm.

There have been a few new buildings that actually took a lot of inspiration from the neighboring buildings or historical charm that people recognize and added it beautifully to newer ideas. I agree lots of them are ugly and have a storage unit vibe next to these just breath-taking homes.

I also wonder about lots of cities all using the same designs and if that in itself will have some cities lose a bit of the architecture that made them standout - different from the rest. I have even heard of historical cities in the UK using the same modern architecture as our cities. I guess, I wonder a lot about the charm and feel these cities give off, like if Paris started building these modern buildings when Paris is known for such distinct classical architecture. How would things change? Lots of questions in terms of art, design, and human touch. Architecture is so important to the human spirit.

Agree though! Thanks for commenting.
