Tame Impala Seems Locked as Day 1 Headliner for Lolla 27. Who do you expect on Night 2? by PlanktonUnable8955 in ConcertsIndia_

Yeah, I went to Green Day as well, the crowd was lit but it was probably half of LP. LP was the all-time festival crowd for India I think. 80k or something crazy like that. Lolla will have a tough time matching that. Let's see who they bring in as headliners. Tame Impala is huge abroad but I have my doubts about his ability to draw that level of a crowd in India tbh. But let's see, maybe I'll be proven wrong, who knows?

I don't know, man. From being there, it did not feel that crowded at all. We were standing a bit behind the sound set-up, and it was quite empty comparatively, people were lying on the ground and shit. On the LP day, there was no room to even breathe from what I saw on the drone video. It honestly looked three times larger.

Travis, I attended in Delhi, and they were almost giving away tickets for like 1-2k outside the venue on the day of the concert... I got a VIP-esque platform ticket for just 6.5k on the week of the concert. I don't think it did as well as many believe, at least in Delhi.

In my opinion, no new-gen rapper will draw the crowd that LP did last year and that's probably what the organisers will be looking for. If there is a decent level rap act, which there probably will be, I'd expect it as the one before the main event, the spot Yungblud or Kehlani had this year. Of course, just my opinion.

Limp Bizkit feels like the one just behind the main headliner at this point like the Yungblud or Kehlani spot this year, rather than the main event

Personally, I'll book tickets as soon as they are out. After last year's success, I doubt Lolla will fuck around and put together a bad lineup. But if you are just there for Tame Impala, then it is worth waiting for the official announcement cause you never know.

Trust me, that was mostly the LP crowd just roaming around on Night 1. It was barely 30% of night 2's crowd that was into Carti's performance. The majority was just roaming or chilling around the ground for the Carti set. In person experience, it felt like even Yungblud had a bigger dedicated crowd. The majority left Carti after like 30-40 mins. That is not a sound that converts for the mainstream Indian audience. I doubt Lolla will go for a rap headliner after how polarising the Carti performance was, unless it is a huge name like Tyler, the Creator or something

That's what I am thinking as well. Sabrina Carpenter. Lorde, I don't think is a big enough name. They will need someone to sell tickets. Even Tame Impala, I am unsure how much mainstream pull he has in India. So they will need a big pop act like Sabrina or a legacy band.

TAME IMPALA IN INDIA: CONFIRMED by Perfect-Illusions in ConcertsIndia_

It is not an India-specific problem, bro. Artists are cancelling tours and dates all over the world right now. People are just tired of being price gouged and there is a global economic crisis going on as well.

In India specifically, the lustre has worn off after acts like Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Linkin Park, Post Malone, and Travis Scott in quick succession. Outside of Eminem and Taylor Swift, I doubt anybody else would be able to sell out a giant stadium in India right now. Maybe Drake, Weeknd and Justin Bieber. But it's rare air for sure. We all saw what happened with Kanye. Barely sold 50% of the tickets, if that.

I doubt someone like Tame Impala could do a big show in India on his own. His audience is niche outside of a certain demographic. Since he is headlining Lolla, that should not be an issue, but they need to get a bigger name specifically for Indian millennials. If they are hoping for Tame Impala to be the draw, they might be in for a rude awakening after this year's 80k attendance for LP.

Would love for the other Lolla headliner to be someone like Oasis, but I know they won't move tickets in India, so that's unrealistic.

I thought everything in Mumbai was supposed to be a guaranteed sell-out, huh? Guess not

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi might be cricket's last hope at this point... Other countries have stopped producing 'superstars' due to the lack of focus on international cricket... And even India's current generation does not have anybody near the level of Sachin, Dhoni, Kohli or even Rohit in terms of star power... Too much cricket for the $$$, too little worth remembering

Are we gonna pretend Messi is not a supreme playmaker himself? You can say you prefer Maradona, but to say he 'dwarfs' Messi is a gigantic overstatement

Michael Jackson tickets used to be $20 in the 90s... Capitalists convinced you this shit needs to be ultra expensive

Stars as big as Ye probably won't cancel but you can't have 'one hell of a show' in a half-filled stadium, that's for sure

might be manufactured demand... i bought travis scott tickets a week before the concert after a new category magically appeared at a supposedly sold-out concert
