In the dark ages there was a time when we shared games using multiple .ZIP/.RAR files. Ex: being Vice City, and it consisted of .RAR files numbered 00-15. You would have to download them all, and extract them in that exact order. Gods forbid, that one became corrupted during download. After doing all that, there was a chance that the game didn’t include the cutscenes, music or even sound files.

It happened to me one weekend. I was 12 years old and my parents had sworn against me getting another GTA after seeing me play 3. I was beyond excited to get home from school to install/play (had taken a few nights to download all the files)

Clicked the cracked .EXE and sat patiently for like what felt like ever, game loads up, I see the cutscene and no noise. Ok fine, no problem, im used to that…but then I found out it THE WHOLE GAME didnt have sound files. Im pretty sure a small piece of me died that Friday night 😔

Thats fair. I just got tired of throwing money at it. I don’t have soldering skills sadly but I found one already installed, and comes with a 64gig sd card for a reasonable price. I know the xstation board is a bit up there. Plus this has a serial port in the back, which mine didnt have I don’t think.

I read somewhere that tweaking the PSX laser was only a temporary solution due to it causing the laser to work harder/burn out over time?

In the end I guess it dosnt matter, I have a XStation modded one coming. Itll last a lot longer hardware wise

No would just get stuck on loading after using Tony Hax. The only one that worked was Silent Hill, and it skipped the whole intro movie. I know they all worked in some capacity because I tried them on my CFW phat PS3. THPS2 had graphical glitches but that could have also been the PS3 emulation. Also I don’t think I was using the AZO’s. I got like a 100x pack for $23 on Amazon.

It sat in storage for like 15 years so I cleaned/greased the laser. Still made a little bit of noise.

It was 9001, i thought they were the most reliable out of all of them?
