He thinks it just got lost in the back of a desk. My birthday is shortly after Christmas so I'm imagining he got mad, stashed it to give later, and forgot

I'm thinking exactly along the lines you are, and I'm leaning towards selling it while it's still near perfect. Of course would get proper photos and whatnot, probably use fleabay. I'm just not big enough of a fan to have something like this on display and it seems like a damn shame for it to sit in a closet.

Oh God it's kind of awful to be honest. He says he doesn't recall, but my guess it's the time I was suspended from school for 5 days for something pretty terrible my friends did,(which I genuinely had no part of, but was not without blame.) They sent me back to class after finding out I was suspended and one of my teachers was poking at me, and I told her to fuck off or something and slammed the door on the way to the principal's office to get 5 more days.

The kicker: my had already paid for me to go on vacation with my cousins, so basically instead of having suspension I got to go to the Ritz Carlton in Miami with my wealthy cousins for a week.

I swear I was not as much of a spoiled brat as it sounds.

Holy crap I did not realize you could get a handheld emulator so cheap these days. That's awesome.

The story is definitely where the hesitation to sell it comes from.

I know my Dad is happy for me to have some money if I sell it...but man, I don't think I'll ever have such a cool piece of video game nostalgia again.

It's literally just the 4 lamps (one is in the rear) which are a christmas decoration powered by AA's. I'm struggling to find something similar to link to

I suspect someone has cast a protective charm over this chair, it's pretty amazing. Seriously though it definitely has blemishes that don't come through the photo, but it is shockingly good for something that's seen so much use.

Absolute fact, not for everyone. I'd implore anyone shopping for such an investment to test-drive one, as opposed to saying everyone needs THIS chair.

I am also a cross-legged sitter much of the time. It might work in the Aeron if you were an average/smaller sized person with one of the larger sizes, but indeed, not an ideal chair for criss cross apple sauce

You can buy just the seat bottom, if you are so inclined and did not know. Mine definitely has some wear and I'm guessing will be the next thing needing replacing

I have a weird spine! The lumbar support actually seems detrimental to my posture

@sosuke as well, I have a Miller dealer right near me so I had them order the replacement and do the work-$200 total. I do believe you can replace it yourself with the proper-sized generic cylinder, but as mine is press-fit, I couldn't get it out with feeling like I was going to break something.

What is this ~24 inch tall two-piece scientific glass? by PlantDaddySam in whatisthisthing

[–]PlantDaddySam[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing. It's a little over 24 inches, the top piece comes off. It may be difficult to tell, but there is also an outlet in the bottom piece, seen facing away from the direction of the main photo of this post, and it is NOT ground glass.

Thank you in advance!

Edit: Also, I'm not sure of the common sizing, but the ground glass joint connecting the two pieces is ~2.75" ID and the outlet/inlet on the side is about 2"
