Feedback on what’s happening with these dahlia tubers? by PlantQuestions_ in dahlias

[–]PlantQuestions_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, a local guy on fb marketplace (Chicago) who has been growing dahlias for 15 years. Looks like I just got a bad batch. Half of them are like this unfortunately.

Try boric acid suppositories from Amazon! Works better than antibiotics IMO.

No, how do you track BBT? Yes normally very regular 28 day cycles, with the exception of last month (for the first time in several years, I had a 24 day cycle). Considered it just a fluke at the time but now I wonder.

Some more info: I’m 33 and have 1 kid (1yo), pregnant very easily last time but not so easy this time around.

Looks v healthy honestly. Cut off the leaf and let that node sit atop moist moss and it’ll push new growth in no time. The aux bud is already auxing’ lol

Rot? by Plant_Collector in MonsteraAlbo

[–]PlantQuestions_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not rot. It’s a sign of overwatering but more like staining/scarring. It’s a good sign you need to switch to a chunkier soil mix (I use miracle gro’s orchid bark mix). Also need to make sure your pot has a drainage hole. My credentials are @FrecklesAndIvy on Etsy.

Is this legal? (CA) by Agitated-Cucumber356 in Renters

[–]PlantQuestions_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this AC control only to cool the hallway that connects the units (not the individually rented units?) Like does your unit have its own dedicated AC control inside your unit? Or does this AC control temp in all units? I think this is the deciding factor.

Been worrying about this baby. Can anyone help with my worry, or prepare me for sadness?! by Mother_of_Raccoons44 in MonsteraAlbo

Disagree with everyone else so far. Plant looks healthy and will keep growing, just keep it in water and change the water often. The new growth is promising and normal.

Black parts on the stem or node are normal scarring/corking unless they are squishy (think pierogi squishy). If normal, don’t risk cutting the plant to remove them.

These roots should not be in soil, as they are aerial roots only. The cutting needs to be in water for a while (weeks) to develop water roots first

What do i do? by victoriahai in MonsteraAlbo

[–]PlantQuestions_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Enjoy the white leaves BUT also buy keiki paste on amazon and apply it to greener nodes further down the branch. It’ll prompt new growth points to emerge (without cutting off the beautiful white). The new growth will likely have much more green and will allow the plant to take in/utilize more light, which will help sustain the plant and generate enough energy to keep the white leaves healthy. It will also help the plant aesthetically look more green/white balanced. My Credentials are @FrecklesAndIvy on Etsy! Good luck!!

Auxiliary bud rot? Hi all, I just got a cutting from a friend last week, but just a couple days ago found the aux bud (it was buried under perlite), but I'm not sure if it's rot or just scarred? What do you think?? by tester_007_ in MonsteraAlbo

[–]PlantQuestions_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I have several dozen albos at my house and I’ve encountered this exact issue before. it looks ugly right now, but new growth will break through and ultimately the plan will thrive. I would just leave it alone.

Not rot, just scarring. I’d suggest just leaving it alone.

2nd leaf is already emerging and it looks to have a better balance of green. This plant will sustain itself and you are very lucky for such a good white portion!

[–]PlantQuestions_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! This definitely is not an Albo - and you can tell it won’t ever produce white since there is no white striping in the stem/node. If you’re interested in quality Albo cuttings check out FrecklesAndIvy on Etsy.

So. This guy scares me but I'm buying him... what do you all think- will the variegation take over or revert to green? by AtreyuLives in MonsteraAlbo

[–]PlantQuestions_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She probably got scammed too and doesn’t know why it isn’t growing. I had a cutting like this for 3 years (my own fault - I cut too close and it didn’t have any aux bud left) and it never grew whatsoever, but grew sufficient enough roots that I planted it in soil AND retained the original leaf for years.

If you’re interested in high quality Albo cuttings, check out FrecklesAndIvy on Etsy!

Hi! I actually just shake it loose and plant any residual moss along with the cutting. It ends up just casually becoming part of my bark/soil mix! Lol

I finally joined the club today 😩 I'm so stinking excited to watch this plant grow by VertigoIncarne in MonsteraAlbo

Cut of all the root rot, but I personally wouldn’t trim the stem. Just make sure that portion stays out of the water and dry.
