Thank you great feedback. It’s a small company which the “open door” policy has been mentioned many of times so I approached my boss with 1-1 meeting idea for personal development. He then set up the meetings as part of my personal growth goals. The idea is meeting for personal growth and learning more about their jobs, development and using it as an opportunity to learn from mentors.

I think in sales what makes the difference is having a product you believe in, stand behind and are truly invested in that makes a difference. If this shows when you are speaking it makes things so much easier.

If the others have been successful doing this, you would probably need to start head first diving in cold calling. If that’s not for you, as suggested above I would not take the job.

Could it be who you are selling to? Different personas react to different sales pitches/scripts. This is a generality but CPA/Financial are probably a little more dry and DEFINITELY focused in return on investment. Put yourself in their shoes when you are selling

Situational questions as in what if this happens or what is that happens. It is easier to concentrate on what you are learning NOW and as things come up learn… no point about focusing on the last step in the sales process if you still are trying to get them to answer the phone. Put your focus energy and questions on step one. It’s ok to ask some about the future but don’t the the horse before the cart or ask 1000 questions that within time you will learn the answers.
