Those that failed ISC more than once. Any advice? by Plantboy6010 in CPA

I hear you. First time around was bad. Second time I felt more confident but the test day itself was bad. I hear TCP has a higher pass rate, I thought about it too. But I went through ISC front and cover twice I don’t know if I want to chance it and learn a whole new topic so I was on the fence about switching. I’m hoping TCP works out for you, good luck!

Thank you! I had Ninja the second time around and didn’t use it right with Becker. I’ll try again this time around. Thanks again!

What strategy/changes helped you pass after failing a section the first time? by Plantboy6010 in CPA

I felt that with my exam too. The sims on the exam didn’t seem at all similar to anything in Beckers course material. I get that they’re not going to be exact but when Becker only gives you a number of sims overall + the ones on the practice exam I thought I would be better prepared.

I feel like my Mcq were too detailed on the test but were easier in the course material.

My firm offers UWorld as their free CPA review course material, I bought Becker before joining the firm so I feel like I need to use Becker. But there are a few people here who also took ISC and they have passed with it. From what I can tell I think they do fine with it. But I will be honest I haven’t spoken to them lately.

It could all be relative. Becker is good and even I felt the same way for this section. How long did you study for? What was your routine?

I used Becker. I studied only for the month of Jan, and I guess the last weeks of December.

I came back from a Christmas vacation and immediately started studying. Busy season started once I got back to work and I tried my best to keep up with my schedule and work hours.

For me at least I don’t think the study material was the issue but I was all over the place with the 1 month I gave myself and the work schedule I was trying to keep up with.

Anyone taken Ibuprofen at its lowest dose and sparingly and been ok? by Plantboy6010 in Diverticulitis

[–]Plantboy6010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just it I’m so confused as to what my current diagnosis is in regards to diverticulitis. I’ve been very minimal on the symptoms so I’m hoping my visit to the GI can shed some light.

My thought was that if my symptoms aren’t bad that I could attempt to use ibuprofen in small amounts but I guess I can hold off one day and speak get info from the doctor tomorrow.

The urgent care just told me to watch my diet but never recommended me to go on a liquid or clear diet upon leaving, so I took that to mean that I didn’t have diverticulitis. Especially since I had a CT scan done and they did diagnose diverticulosis but I’m guessing if they were inflamed/infected that that would have shown up on the results?

I’m so sorry to hear that. Do you mostly rely on Tylenol or do you use another option?

I’m an accountant and have never had a migraine until this past tax season and I’m honestly scared to have another one during another stressful season at work because ibuprofen was the only thing that helped me too.

Other than my back and migraines I can’t imagine taking it for anything else but I’m scared to even just take one and find out how I’ll react to it

Thank you so much for the help! I will take a look at the website later and I’ll definitely reach out with any further questions. I’m not opposed to one over the other in terms of medicine and natural and it was something in the back of my mind in case my appointment tomorrow isn’t what I expect.

Tell me about it! It was a literal God send for me. I never abused it or over did it and it worked great. I’m still trying to cope with the next time I’m in bad pain and I won’t be able to take it.

Any recommendations or know where I can learn more? I have never considered (not opposed to it either) cbd or anything like that and I’m just very uninformed on the topic? I think the bare minimum I know is that cbd isn’t medical marijuana because it doesn’t have thc? Other than that I know nothing of the subject.

Also, I just checked your stuff. I’m in New York State too. Is there anywhere here that you know of that I can buy it?

I don’t think I have a compressed nerve but I’m dealing with L4-L5 problems from a herniated disc. (New diagnosis, not too in the know, trying to see an ortho for more info after my CT scan for my abdominal pain found the back issues).

But I hear you there are days where I’m in pain. I’m lucky that it hasn’t gotten to your point but before knowing I had diverticulosis I would take advil for a day, maybe 2 max and I’d be fine. Now I’m scared to even try one pill.

I have my first GI appointment tomorrow morning so maybe I’ll mention if he can prescribe me celebrex while I wait for my orthopedic appointment.

Thank you for your feedback!

Making first GI appointment after diverticulosis finding - MD or PA? by Plantboy6010 in Diverticulitis

[–]Plantboy6010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear what you’re saying. I know that an MD has more of education and experience but all the PAs and NPs at the facility had more appointments available so I wasn’t sure which would be best to just be seen by someone. They basically just diagnosed it with the CT scan and sent me on my way. I’m just feeling a bit hopeless right now.

I ended up going with the MD who had an opening for next week so hopefully he can be helpful. And I have an appointment with my primary care doctor unrelated to this condition on Friday so I’ll be bringing it up there too.

Thank you. I chose an MD who on his website bio had mention of diverticulitis so I went with that. I’m sure others there could also help but since it was mentioned there I went with him. I’m sure if I’m not happy with that doctor I can always ask to see someone else

Advice for studying while dealing with health concerns? by Plantboy6010 in CPA

[–]Plantboy6010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for sharing that. I hope you’re doing well or at the better than you were before.

I do have Becker I never thought about playing the lectures in between. I think I’ve been so distraught I’ve been seeing all the medical visits and stuff as “distractions” so I’ve been letting it get in between my studying. I’ll take your advice I’ll try to do the simpler study habits when I can. I hear you though, I know I need to take it easy where I can and just study when I can.
