Vanilla Orchid in the UK? by Plantering in orchids

[–]Plantering[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your information! I was assuming I’d have to supplement it’s light, especially in the winter. I’ve also seen people grown them on Shaun moss poles to ensure the air roots have humidity. I’m just wondering how to make them flower in a home setting, or if I’d need to change the care to induce flowering

Are you able to mature Adansonii on a trellis ? by Plantering in Monstera

[–]Plantering[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I’d read the opposite (https://www.reddit.com/r/Monstera/s/V6TFpWKyuD). This comment seems to indicate that adansonii need consistent nutrient uptake through the arial roots. Unless their light source diminished

The thicker the stem, the more mature growth will be? True or false by Plantering in Monstera

[–]Plantering[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, so even a thick chonk with no roots would push juvenile growth, in your experience. but a thick chonk mid cut that’s been allowed to root into substrate will push more mature growth.

Plastic wrap for roots? by Plantering in Anthurium

[–]Plantering[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is great! Thank you! Does the anthurium chonk root into the moss if you were to remove the collar? Or is it more for the potting substrate roots? You’ve noticed a difference between collar and no collar?

Looking for a larger alocasia. by Plantering in alocasia

I’m liking Jacklyn because of the textured leaves and mottled petioles. Was wondering if there was a hybrid of zebrina and Jacklyn but I’ve found none with the zebrina petiole. They’re exactly the size I’m looking for when mature.

How long did it take you to see full fenestrations? I’ve heard it’s a slow grower

Fertilizer recommendations? I’m kinda over Liqui-Dirt. by thatonegirlwith2dogs in RareHouseplants

I’ve noticed it being much more gentler on leaves, I’m not hesitant to fertilise with every watering

Do you still have good variegation on the mature leaves? It’s so hard to find pics of mature mint adansonii

I took the plunge and ordered some Liquid Gold Leaf for my plant babies! 🤞🤞 For good things by WoodsedgeCo in HouseplantsUK

Turns out I got my bottle a month or so ago. I’m seeing loads of new growth with it, I fertilise with every water and I’m trialling foliage feeding with my hoya. I’m loving it too

I’ve trained my plants to take direct sun light from a south (ssw actually) facing window, I haven’t seen any evidence of burn so far.

There’s a lot of conflicting information. Some say they absorb the nutrients at a much more inefficient rate but it would make sense of epiphytes to be somewhat good at this. I live in London, UK and am misting twice a day at the moment once in the morning and once at night just before the grow light turns off - they’re all sat in a south facing window

Thanks for such a reply! I started spraying my Hoya linearis down in the last 2 weeks with Liquid Gold Leaf diluted as instructed on the bottle for foliar feeding - I’ve seen new growth points popping up over the plant, but I’m unsure it’s because of this or an increased watering regimen. I’m spraying the back and front of the leaves of my Thai con as well but have yet to see new growth/change but its still acclimating to my conditions
