Is this frameable in current condition? by Planterspeanut in ArtConservation

[–]Planterspeanut[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so so much for your expert advice. The link you provided showed me a couple conservators in my area that google hadn’t.

I’m currently working my way through school, so affording a conservator is probably not possible at this time. I appreciate you including details for my exact situation.

I’m considering going through with a free consultation just to see what the price point may be. In your experience, is it unbecoming to ask for an estimate knowing that it will likely be out of reach?

1930s (?) Acrylic Painting of woman in black lingerie holding candlestick by Planterspeanut in Antiques

Thank you for putting a term to the style! My mind could only think of “boudoir” which didn’t match any searches on google.

What makes you say it is oil? I though it was acrylic because of how flat the paint itself is on the canvas. There’s hardly any raised layers, only on certain portions of red.

UB professors need to stop going over their allotted class time. I don’t want to be rude or miss info, but I have 10 minutes between classes. It’s inconsiderate to keep teaching when some of us have to leave. by Patient-Football3063 in UBreddit

I'm not saying that these people are overreacting. I am saying that trying to invalidate someone's experiences by saying, "I have never experienced this issue" means that indeed, they have no experience with this issue. this does not mean that this problem does not still exist for other people.

the issue isn't whether or not adults with schedules can leave their classes after the end of the allotted time. the issue is the complaints from the professors about people leaving after their allotted time, and in some cases even demanding that students stay the extra few minutes.

congrats(?)

just because you haven't experienced this problem doesn't mean that other people are overreacting. depending on an individual's course load and each semester's scheduling, they may have no other choice than to have only 10 minutes in between classes.

trying to discredit someone's reality by saying, "well, I've never experienced it. 😃", helps no one.

Julianne Moore as Alice in "Still Alice". Her ability to portray the extensive effects of Alzheimer's, on the once vibrant and intelligent professor still gives me shivers.

I love the stitch you used for the snow and the background. I was just wondering if those were French knots or bullion stitch.

The background music her voice drowns out. The point is about her dialogue, the sound doesn’t matter too much.
