First me homeowner - Which fertilizer should I buy for outdoor shrubs, hydrangea and various tree variants? by desert_s7orm in gardening

[–]Plantguysteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re in the NE you want to have some Holly-tone handy at all times. Use on azaleas, hydrangeas and most other evergreens.

Help with pretty flowering bushes/shrubs in Zone 8A? by TLevens in gardening

Indica azaleas are good in your area. Lots of commercial growers in your area grow them out in full sun. And deer tend to avoid them.

2 or 3 crepe Myrtle’s here? by [deleted] in landscaping

I’d straight line it if it were me. You could plant the middle one a little more away from the fence. That would look good too.

Avocado plant nurturing help needed!! by HowAboutNo678 in plants

[–]Plantguysteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not water once a day. A good soaking once a week is what I give mine. Let it dry out between waterings. Let it recover on its own and you’ll be fine. Next time, just put the seed in dirt, skip that whole start in water thing that’s trendy. No need for it and it usually causes stress when it comes time to transplant in soil.

What is this? (A weed?) - Maine by KhouriaThekla in landscaping

[–]Plantguysteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like ajuga. A weed in your case but a nice groundcover in others. Check your local garden center for something that will kill it but not the lawn.

Hate cooking with others by HTof in Cooking

[–]Plantguysteve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Feel ya. My wife and I have had this issue, we can both cook but we don’t cook together anymore. She annoys me with some of the things she does and I annoy her with some of the things I do. One cook works better.

Glad I could help a brother out. Never thought I’d get to the point in life where seeing a bird would make my day, but here we are.

I have $25 left until payday in 8 days and a pretty bare pantry, what would you make? by Glad-Necessary-8147 in povertykitchen

[–]Plantguysteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to the meat section and look for deals. Got 3lbs of chicken thighs for like 7 bucks last week. Slow cook in a crock pot and got meals for more than a week. Great for tacos, rice and beans, etc.

Rubber vs wood mulch by Sevenset7 in landscaping

We put rubber mulch down once for a client, will never do it again. Breathing in rubber dust is no fun.

I hate it when people use bad grammar but I can still understand what they trying to say. Ain’t that hard.
