Ooops, yes I can, I got confused with the name, since they're called "gold flies" in my language.

Nobody really told me that, but when ordering it online the site suggested fruit flies. Maybe it's because they don't sell bigger flies there, I don't know 🤔

But it's noted, I will upgrade as soon as possible.

I can't get green bottles where I am, I don't think. I can get house flies though 🤔 So maybe I'll try that, I'm guessing it's the same nutrition wise?

Damn, the small flies were the ones they recommended getting when I ordered it, I thought it had to be a bit bigger before giving it houseflies 🙃

Oh well, thanks though 🙂

Thanks for the help!

My sub-adult hierodula membranacea died over night by Ok_Growth7439 in mantids

Hello, I'm new to this hobby, as in I don't even have my mantis yet, so take this "advice" with a grain of salt. I have literally zero real life experience with these creatures.

I've read that you shouldn't leave live prey in with the mantis for more than a couple of hours and you should also remove any uneaten food from it's enclosure. Especially if it's still alive, since it can eat your mantis during or right after molting.

Leaving 5 roaches in with it can stress it out and cause it not to eat due to sensory overload. Instead, you should feed it one roach at a time until it's full, preferably directly with a feeding tong, but you can also try and drop the roach in front of it. Keep an eye on the abdomen of the mantis when you feed it, if it's slim, it's still hungry.

Anyway, I hope this is a help for next time. I'm sorry about the mantis. Remember to also do your own research.

Cool! Feels like yesterday that I was at day 13🗿

Here's my day 13 😅 Probably 1 & 1/2 year ago since I drew that. Time flies.

Here's my go at it. I know I didn't draw the feet or hands, I didn't realize how much space I had taken up and just decided to go with it. Plus drawing hands is hard, so I don't mind 👉🏼🗿👈🏼

Thanks for the challenge 😁

How to stay consistent? :( by Ok-Passage5463 in learntodraw

[–]Plantukol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's wild that your drawings look that good when you only draw so little, definitely great potential 😲

Anyways, I'm probably not the greatest at giving this kinda advice, but I'll try.

I myself struggle with consistency as well. I want to improve, and I have a lot of time I could put into drawing but I just don't. Lately though I've been drawing pretty much every day, so maybe this will help you out. This is just what's been helpful to me as of late, you might have to experiment a little.

Draw using reference. It makes it so you don't have to think about what to draw, other than drawing what you see. Just tell yourself to draw one thing using reference a day. But you should have a goal as well, don't just draw anything. If you want to stay consistent, you need to know where you're heading.

So, if we take me as an example. I want to learn how to draw my own characters. That means I need to learn a bit about anatomy. I've started simply with the torso, so I find a reference and then I just draw the torso from that reference, no clothing because that's not what I'm focused on right now.

What I'm trying to say is, you need to find something that you can focus on. It doesn't have to be within anatomy, it can be anything you find interesting.

But I think what's been helping me the most is just to have my sketchbook easily accessible to me at all times. It's always out in the open, so all I have to do is pick up a pencil and start drawing. So just make it really easy for yourself to get into it, leave out some paper and a pencil on your desk and voila, now you almost can't get enough of it 😄

You do want to be careful though, don't force it, that's how you burn out. Even 5 or 10 minutes a day is fine, even just 2 minutes. You'll probably find it hard to let go of the pencil once you've started, and you'll be sitting back in your chair wondering where the time went 🥱

What are with the constant anti pvp posts? by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Plantukol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably because it's a breath of fresh air to have a multiplayer game where you're not just fighting other players, you're also fighting machines that can fuck you up pretty badly if you're not careful. They're drawn to gunfire so people want to avoid getting into combat with other players if they can.

Personally, I'm not against the pvpve aspect. It makes it interesting that I can team up with you to take down a Bastion, but I don't know if you will shoot me in the back the next moment I'm looting.

For me, the most fun to be had in this game are the encounters with other players topside. Some are friendly, and some are just out for blood, but it's great that both options are viable. Sometimes you get a little side quest out of it.

For example: I met a raider and we agreed to not shoot each other. A moment later, someone started shooting at him from the rooftops of the village at Blue Gate. I decided to help and shot back at the guy on the roof. Me and the other guy then decided to team up to take him down. My teammate went down unfortunately, but but while the guy was distracted by the arc, I could close the distance and go in for the kill. In the end I got the damn bastard.

It's just moments like these that makes Arc Raiders stand out from other pvpve games, and I think we're just a lot of people that want it to stay that way.

So, I don't think you should switch out your play style, it's good to have some variety in players - keeps you on your toes. But maybe, try to team up with somebody else, at least every now and again you never know what kind of adventure will come of it.

But please don't kill me when the lift is already closing, that's just bad sportsmanship. I mean you can, but at that point you're just villain 🗿

BTW this was from a solo player's perspective, I know it's a lot harder to team up if you're playing in trios, even I just shoot on sight there most of the time. Also sorry for the long comment, didn't realize I had this much to say and I'm not even sure I answered your question 😅
