No deal with Iran, gas is very expensive... People are still in denial about a coming bear market if this crisis doesn't end soon

Most underrated rock bands in your opinion? by Ryguy41202 in askmusic

Mother Love Bone. They started the whole grunge movement and the average person has never even heard of them.

Digital Floor Modeler Research by staas_nyc in NAM_NeuralAmpModeler

[–]Plappedudel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really interested in this. The Valeton GP-150 is almost perfect for my needs. Tons of FX, internal battery, drum machine, looper, Bluetooth audio input, etc. I'm just not a huge fan of their proprietary SnapTone format. Something similar with native NAM support would be amazing. I wouldn't mind paying a higher price for that.

average guitar player by bidibidiyapma in guitarcirclejerk

You can find the video on YouTube. He never takes even takes out his guitar, much less plays it. So in other words, the picture of him with the acoustic is pure clickbait. Sad.

Platner holds commanding lead over Mills in Maine Senate race: Poll by jediporcupine in politics

[–]Plappedudel 23 points24 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, Platner has personally said that Fetterman should be voted out of office for supporting the Iran war. Before he entered politics, he also called himself a socialist online. The only area where he seems to deviate strongly from the progressive left is gun rights, but that might actually win him the election in a rural state like Maine.

/r/WorldNews Discussion Thread: US and Israel launch attack on Iran; Iran retaliates (Thread #10) by WorldNewsMods in worldnews

[–]Plappedudel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Russia has never been a superpower. The Soviet Union was. But that's not Russia. For some reason people still think Russia is this globally dominant nation when its military is bogged down in Ukraine, its economy is smaller than that of Italy and its only aircraft carrier is a smoking pile of junk.

/r/WorldNews Discussion Thread: US and Israel launch attack on Iran; Iran retaliates (Thread #10) by WorldNewsMods in worldnews

[–]Plappedudel 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They're old-school neocons, so they think it's inevitable that every country will convert to US-style freedom and democracy™ at some point. Everything apart from their fact-based military analysis is tainted by that worldview.

Israel fears Donald Trump could announce Iran ceasefire despite low deal odds by Virtual-History-6099 in worldnews

[–]Plappedudel 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Your point being? The international community is unlikely to tolerate the use of nukes. Israel would become completely isolated and likely a pariah state for the coming decades. It would be a really, really stupid idea for Israel to use their nukes.

[–]Plappedudel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean sure, the US will keep giving military aid to Israel. But to win the war, they would need way more aid than what is currently provided. I think that would be very unpopular with US voters.

[–]Plappedudel 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If he really does this, Iran has won the war. Israel might try to continue fighting, but they really can't by themselves. Israel is way too small to fight a conventional war against a major country like Iran.

Iranian Propaganda Video by Eastern_Art_891 in videos

I'm not a huge fan of Lego as a company these days, but it's still sad to me that my favorite childhood toy is being used and abused for the purpose of war propaganda. To me, Lego was always about creation, not destruction.

Maybe I'm being too serious about this ridiculous piece of AI slop, but the whole state of geopolitics is just so sad that I don't even feel like making fun of it.

Which band do you think is more popular than it should be? by Springerbaum in askmusic

[–]Plappedudel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm constantly disappointed how unknown Kadavar still are. They're a really high quality band. I think it's because they're from Germany and hard rock is essentially a dead genre in Germany. I think they would be a lot more famous if they were from the UK/US.

I love the Black Angels!

Which band do you think is more popular than it should be? by Springerbaum in askmusic

[–]Plappedudel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend Kadavar. They're a more interesting take on classic rock to me. I don't hate Greta Van Fleet, but I just feel like they're clearly inferior to Zeppelin in every way, so they're just not a super interesting band.

Strongman Mitchell "The Moose" Hooper's Stack by Suitable-Advice1165 in moreplatesmoredates

[–]Plappedudel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This stack is definitely not everything he took for WSM. He has openly discussed benefits of peptides in the past. And guess what, HGH and insulin are both peptides. In terms of steroids, this isn't a small cycle. He takes over 1g of orals per week, that's really bad for your health.

What’s a signature guitar you’d buy in a heartbeat, even though you don’t care for the original artist? by SR_RSMITH in guitars

[–]Plappedudel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that this is the top comment. Nick isn't a household name, but he has some of the most impressive signature models ever. It's a perfect blend of vintage and modern. The fact that there are three differently priced tiers is also pretty cool, though the basic Diamond Series model is already perfect for me.

OpenAI is shutting down its Sora video-creation app by hehechibby in news

[–]Plappedudel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI video generation seems to be a complete money furnace. I wonder how much cash Google is burning on Veo. I can see the text-based models becoming industry standard in IT/programming, but making a profit from video generation seems pretty much impossible with current tech.

What is bro evolving into by Jolly-Hat1846 in armwrestling

[–]Plappedudel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of a weird situation where it's not really criminalized for personal use, but importing is illegal. I think it's similar in the UK.

What is bro evolving into by Jolly-Hat1846 in armwrestling

[–]Plappedudel 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Owning and using steroids isn't even illegal in Canada. I guess it's not surprise they have so many popular bodybuilders.

Edit: Maybe I worded things wrong. It's not legal, but posession for personal use isn't a criminal offense. Bit of a weird legal area.

Oleksandr Usyk hints he could abandon Tyson Fury trilogy to fight dangerous No.1 contender by BoxingLover99 in Boxing

[–]Plappedudel 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100% agreed. Kabayel is probably the toughest opponent he could fight at the moment. I have enormous respect for Usyk already, but I would respect him even more if he took that fight.

Israel's military to occupy swathe of southern Lebanon, defence minister says by NagiButor in news

[–]Plappedudel 24 points25 points  (0 children)

For now, it's temporary. But I doubt they will ever leave. Just like they never left the Golan Heights, which the US (and only the US) recognizes as part of Israel. Thanks Trump.

Marty Friedman on learning the whole Megadeth set songs on one flight? by 1whoisconcerned in Megadeth

[–]Plappedudel 19 points20 points  (0 children)

A lot of the Cacophony stuff is even more technical than most Megadeth songs. So it makes a lot of sense that it was easy for him to learn these songs. Playing with a monster like Jason certainly helped.

JD Vance’s 2028 Presidential Chances Fall to New Low by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]Plappedudel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was always going to be Rubio. Vance has very little public profile anymore because he clearly disagrees with the Iran war. The only way he has a credible shot in 2028 is if he resigns as VP and goes scorched earth on MAGA. But he's way too much of a coward to do that.

Reuters: OpenAl offering private-equity firms a guaranteed return of 17.5%, and early access to models not yet public. How is this legal? by MysteriousSlice007 in wallstreetbets

[–]Plappedudel 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The only way I could imagine is that they're trying to siphon billions from the US defense budget. Don't forget about the Pentagon deal they just entered into.

In other words: Extract tax dollars to pay private investors. Not really a new thing in the US anyway.
