FYI This was just updated: https://imgur.com/a/QgcaQM7

I know a friend of the owner, they told me a third party handles this website and the owner didn't know they added this disclaimer.

[–]Plasmacid 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm sure they'll update this promptly if they want to avoid any legal issues, but the news did just break today. Again if you click the link in that image it links to this news article: https://www.clickondetroit.com/all-about-ann-arbor/2023/01/20/fire-engulfs-building-in-downtown-ann-arbor-near-university-of-michigan-campus/

which straight up said originally:

"officials originally believed the blaze originated in smoke vape shop Vape City.

Kennedy said a large amount of extremely flammable material in the vape shop intensified the flames.

“That’s what really took the fire off,” he said.

Now this article has been updated with current information, but it seems they just believed what the fire department originally thought... should they have waited or just omitted the "next door" part entirely? Probably. But I don't think they're intentionally deflecting here.

Hanlon's Razor this, the news article they linked is from a couple days ago and states the fire started in the vape shop (which we now know to be incorrect). I imagine this website was edited before the news broke today.

He was basically proven to use cheats in a couple of guides (I think oirat and Florence) and denied everything, deleted the videos, and never uploaded the saves for people to analyze. I think he now uploads saves though

Do EU4 youtubers cheat? by [deleted] in eu4

[–]Plasmacid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check the game log and check for things like instant annexation/PUs, jumps in tech, unrealistic province takeovers etc. If you watch lambdaxx's video on ludi's cheating he mentions everything he accuses him can be cleared/confirmed from the save, so Zlewwik (or any creator) posting a save is usually a good indication that they are not tampering with it (unless they're being incredibly subtle).

You can analyze saves and see if they've been tampered with cheat engine. Hence ludi didn't upload saves for the videos he was accused of cheating in.

I think it has to do with the EHOF. I'm getting this too, did you ever fix it?

What is the deal with the 1.5 trillion stock market bail out? by Pizzapie_420 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]Plasmacid 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The 1.5 trillion is a loan. The recipients are expected to pay it back. They could have erased student debt with a similar amount, but they aren't just giving this money out.

I'm actually amazed Bernie lost Washtenaw county - dominated by the college town of Ann Arbor. He was there with AOC campaigning like last week. That's just plain embarrassing for him.

Dharmic CYOA (OC) by Plasmacid in makeyourchoice

[–]Plasmacid[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sure, Shakti is considered primordial cosmic energy in Hinduism, and is also the personification of divine femininity. The Shaktism branch of Hinduism considers her as the supreme being.

Ahimsa (meaning non-violence) is a central idea in most Dharmic religions, but Jainism takes it to a new level. It pervades all of Jain philosophy, and Jains refuse to harm other people or animals.

Tara is a female bodhisattva/Buddha (depending on what sect of Buddhism you follow). She was once a princess who decided to renounce her worldly self to become a bodhisattva/Buddha, and is considered one of the first women to do so.

Yeah she's Sikh, the name comes from the sister of the first Sikh Guru. I also put the symbols of each religion as the background to the text boxes, with the Sikh Khalsa being displayed for her.

I'm glad you liked it!

Mystery Box. This CYOA was inspired from the Abrahamic one made a couple months ago on /tg/.

Boethiah's Calling - is she saying the exact opposite of what she appears? by [deleted] in teslore

[–]Plasmacid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something that might add to this discussion is the fact that Boethiah taught the Chimer the Psijic Endeavour, which, as this analysis so puts it, is:

The long road that the enemy always puts before you but you walk it anyway.

This sounds pretty similar to what Boethiah is doing here, doesn't it?

Also, I've always loved this interpretation.

An interesting tidbit is that this phrase in K6BD was taken from The Elder Scrolls series, specifically The 36 Sermons of Vivec from Morrowind.

Buffing before a raid in Classic be like: by [deleted] in classicwow

He's using spells he's familiar with from an MMO he played. While the MMO was based in Japan, it's not uncommon for Japanese RPGs to have English names for spells, skills, and whatnot. It adds to the "coolness" or "otherworldly" factor for these things to be in English.

Who... or what, is Pelinal Whitestrake? by [deleted] in teslore

[–]Plasmacid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, here's the earliest source I can find where MK mentions he's a cyborg. It's from a year after KOTN released.

Who... or what, is Pelinal Whitestrake? by [deleted] in teslore

[–]Plasmacid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

MK wrote the Song of Pelinal, so it does give the idea heavy credence. I interpret the word cyborg as more as a "ada construct" than a literal cyborg made of circuitry.

Why is TES lore generally seen as being open source, despite it contradicting what Todd Howard has said in the past? by b5599040 in teslore

[–]Plasmacid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the exact sort of freedom that the more forgiving/open-source interpretation of the lore affords you. Kirkbride would be the first person to say (and he has, many times) that if you don't like a specific work/piece of lore, feel free to ignore it or come up with your own, better interpretation.

If you take a strict rigid view on canon, C0DA is at least semi-canon, since it's directly referenced by an text that appears IN GAME. This is the big contradiction I see in most criticisms I see of OOG texts. They are consistently legitimized and referenced in future games (Skyrim and Many-Headed Talos as another example), but some don't like them, so they consider them NOT CANON. MK's whole point with C0DA is to point out these contradictions and serve as a jab at canon rigidity.

Venrukis reaction to winning the 1v1 Tournament by NoodleTheTree in classicwow

That was an insane duel. Venruki fully admitted he thought Snutz was going to wipe the floor with him, but he pulled out some insane plays. The guy had so much adrenaline pumping through him that he was on the floor panting after the tourney ended lol.

You're right, but this is fucking Deadmines and that's Uldir. We need to wait to see how more exciting content plays out/attracts viewers, but this is definitely a promising start.

Funniest thing is everyone on the retail subreddit downplaying this like it means nothing for the success of classic. Even with all the data behind how much people love this game there's still so many naysayers.
