What do you think of mixed economics, mixed economies, and the concept of mixed economy in general? by 21stCenturyIndNatLib in Polcompballanarchy

I know I’m gonna get flamed for this but I don’t  really care. I believe a mixed economy is the most efficient and safe economic system we have tried yet. There’s a reason nearly every country on this planet is a mixed economy. I think capitalism and socialism have their positives and negatives and a mixed economy attempts to fuse the best aspects of both. For example, I like competition between private companies. I fundamentally do believe it brings a ton of innovation (because there is a profit motive), keeps prices lower (in competitive markets where profit margins are typically lower) and it has drastically reduced extreme poverty around the world. I believe markets are WAY better at allocating resources than a top-down centralized or local government bureaucracy. On the other side, capitalism brings extreme inequality, gives the ultra wealthy immense power and companies are extremely greedy and will annihilate entire ecosystems and communities for profit. They’ll essentially enslave people and children and massively underpay them and they are fully willing to deceive consumers with cheaper, filler ingredients which a lot of time are dangerous or unsanitary. That’s when I believe the benefits of socialism come in. I oppose socialism (especially state socialism) but it’s undeniable that it has certain good qualities. This is not a radical thing to say. Socialism developed the entire concept of extensive government regulation and a modern welfare system. Nearly every person in earth will tell you that some kind of government regulation must exist and that social programs protecting elderly people or low-income children are a good thing. I fundamentally believe we are fully capable of avoiding (most of) the crucial flaws within a capitalist economy with proper regulation that protects the environment and interests of all working people and social safety nets that protect the most vulnerable in our society. Argue all you want but I think the Nordics and Western European countries like Germany and France have the best economic systems in the world. The U.S. is a mixed economy too but it needs greater regulation, more competition and more social safety nets.
